These have one of the best sounding lead channels for metal there is because of all the headroom. All you need to do is pick the right choice of clipping diode's, and these things amps can be a monster. I decided to embrace the diode's, and maximize their benefit by getting just the right one's for a crushing lead channel, and now this amp does it all. The cleans are really flattering to the player, and the hot side now goes form bluesy OD all the way to the heaviest, most raging distortion, with a nice natural mid-scoop. I'd say the lead channel is equal to the clean side or more useable, it's that big of a difference.

So did you ever get the modded MTS sold Jerry?

I actually heard one about 12 years ago now, I thought it sounded pretty good, but its been to long to remember if it was stock or modded or if he used pedals. The guy also had it seriously cranked, it was hard to compete with the volume.
