nice clip Dave. it always sounds like your playing through like 4 4X12's in stereo   fun.....got any clips with the CCV with just a one cab mono..just wanna hear the difference. nice guitar by the way..is that an 80's made in japan 68' reissue neck by any chance?

Are you peeking into my windows?  Yes, I am running 4 4x12's. The two wet/dry are 65's and the two dry are 80's. I am using an H&H V800 for my W/D cabs.

The guitar is a mash up... 54 Fender reissue MIJ body and a 68 Fender reissue MIJ neck. I built the guitar in the late 90's. For a strat, the guitar is a little dark, which make it sound great... Doesnt matter, humbuckers or singles, the thing has tone. I also re-fretted it with 6100's. I can fly on the guitar since it has such a narrow neck.

yep, i should've never dumped that neck. those are killer..the custom shop versions have more girth to them, but those old MIJ 68's are supersonic fast to play on. yeah i think i had 6000's on my mine at the time. I think you will like the Duncan Fury bridge, its more chewy and fat sounding, yet still retain the clarity for single note stuff for high gain applications. check Dstroud's post.

Great tones and nice playing.

Just so you know, those pickups are not single coil.

Question: The HS pickups are stacked humbuckers, but they exhibited the traits that I like about true single coils in this clip...that is they showed no signs of high end and low end "neutering" from phase cancellation like traditional humbuckers. Is that phase cancellation due to humbucking in general or is it caused by a traditional humbucker reading the string at two places as opposed to one?
If its the latter, why did the Gibson P-100 (stacked P-90) sound so lame compared to the real deal?

The new YJM Fury pickup looks interesting. The HS-3 I have is from the 1980's and sounds really good. A lot nicer than the few new HS-3's I have tried. I bought an HS-3 in the 90's (along with an HS-2 that I kept) and my old one killed it. I remember my friends an I wondering why the new one was so bright and brittle sounding. [/quote]

You ever try the HS-2 in the bridge?

Yeah well also keep in mind too that those Early Yngwie records were recorded on stock 250k pots vs post-89 he started using the "no load" circuit ( YJM sig models) which gave the pickups more output but also make them a little brighter. Here's a clip i did a while back ago using the 80s HS-3's on both the neck and bridgeon a original 1970 strat with old stock noisy pots ...the clips i've recorded on the YJM strat sound brighter to me, not thats bad cause i still dig it.

the fury bridge is a more evenly compressed tone and not at "open" sounding as HS-3..IMO. definitely thicker for that chugga chugga thing : )

Dave that sounded great. That guitar & amp go together very well.

I just got a chance to listen to this, sounds great. Can't wait to get my CCV.
