well, get a new riff, a new verse, a new bridge, a new chorus, different lyrics, different guitars, different wardrobe and different hair color and you really got something there...

you guys are a tough room. ;)

Tough crowd....perhaps, or it might just be the wording "freaking awesome riff!" in the title of the thread

Yeah Joey kinda blew this one out of proportion. I mean its good and all, but "chick writes Freaking Awesome"??? nah. I judge this by the tons of other gifted, singers and songwriters out there and it is just decent and certainly not in the top heap of what I have heard, I didn't care for her voice either. But yes I am being extra critical because of the hype setup initially. Had the title been, "pretty cool track with potential" I may have been like yeah, pretty cool.

I seriously forgot the song by the time I read all of the posts in this thread. Very cool guitar sound with the tele. Some song structure guidance would help...Oh, and a chorus!! There wasn't a chorus was there??? But, hey, this is a good attempt. Wow! It is so much easier to critique songs than actually write a good one!!! I should have tried this years ago!!!

BTW I thought it kinda sucked myself lol

IDK, the first 34 seconds, which is the main hook, are definitely radio friendly.

I thought the intro and lead were super catchy. It's also really cool to see a girl love her guitar enough to be completely over her nails.

my Honky Tonk is now filled for 2012
sounds good, especially the Tele

Me too. Most of the songs we love spent years being massaged by the artist before they recorded the version we all know. This one she did sounds like it's her first draft. Yes, that chorus is ridiculous and juvenile and the first two versus are cringe-worthy and cliché. Give her 4 years kicking it around and she may have a hit.

I recently finished reading Slash's book and found it interesting "November Rain" was written by Axl 7 years before it was recorded. Long before he even moved to LA from Indiana. And "Paradise City" spent 3 years in his notebook, along with all of the other tracks on Appetite for Destruction. Another example with a different band that I found interesting was after hearing the Gene Simmons demo tapes of Van Halen and how once they got with Ted Templman he completely changed a couple of the breakdowns and bridges on a few songs by taking parts from other songs they had and putting them in there. There's a part in Van Halen II "Light Up the Sky" which was originally the bridge to another song from the demo sessions.

Anyway, If you poke around her YouTube and Myspace you can see she's super into guitar (she probably lurks here!). I got that she was French because her bio's say she's a native living outside of Paris.

She appears to be super into Slash. Her YT page is here: http://www.youtube.com/user/lowa91

Speaking of getting over her nails, this is from 2 years ago but she leaves a little message for her fans and I guess it's a tiny hole in her near perfect English that she makes an interesting omission in her story. Namely was what she describing an accident or not?

It's cool to see girls playing guitar... but someone else was right; if this were a male, this post wouldn't exist.

The whole "pretty good for a girl" thing is getting annoying on youtube. Either it's good or it's not.

"I got a new guitar and new amp hoping it would cheer me up.. It worked."

Haters aside.. This one's a B.A.M.F.

And I dig the accent. :inlove:

it's the way I talk normally. I guess it didn't translate well.

I still think it was a freaking awesome riff. :)

I wanna see her do "Mud on the tires" by Brad Paisly. I'm sure she could nail it. Like I said, I'm not huge into today's country music.. But Paisley just flat out GETS IT. I'm really dig'n Eric Church too!

Why not just watch Brad Paisley do Brad Paisley?

Nothing wrong with that.

It's nice to see young people who obviously have a great interest in making music with instruments.

Its a crappy home recording record her in a big studio through a DrZ
Hire some writers to change some lyrics there it would be tons better

and its crucial (as my buddy used to say about 80s) you Must have at least half of the state of Tenessee singing backup on the chorus or get Muttlange to do the Def 85 vocal tracks
