Edit: Dudes making money in the music business don’t post here. Some do, but it’s rare.

Seems that way, I’d prefer to be wrong. Users here are dedicated enthusiasts and I don’t know of another forum that has the same vibe. There are many great forums with excellent posts but they all seem to lack grit. RT is more like being at the gig than the others.

There's no point in chasing individual amps to replicate the tone of your favorite artist - it was probably a blend of amps ran through a veritable shit-ton of outboard gear and plugins plus engineering wizardry to get the sound you think you're going to get out of an amp.

Devin Townsend literally cannot get a sound out of his Mesas that beat his modelers any more. To him, at least.

I find I get the same tone if I play an Orange, Rivera or Zinky. It always sounds like me.

Vernon Reid said to find your own voice. I believe that’s a good idea, rather than trying to sound like someone else. You might cop the tone or get close, but it’s always going to be YOU.
