this.. those types are fun to have around until they start belittling average gear at every turn. if they are going to inject themselves into the "what amp for $1500" thread with how shitty everything recommended is compared to their $8k green face Rev T whatever shit box, thats grounds for being made fun of
Cerebral Hypothesis at it’s finest

Well in this case i'm being hyperbolic - no one (including me) is going to make fun of someone just for having gear and not being an amazing player in a vacuum

But there's definitely a pattern with certain types of people having tons of ridiculously expensive gear, barely being able to play it, and talking about said gear (and guitar in general) as if they are an expert and lording it over everyone around them

this has happened over and over on Rig Talk, IRL, and every other guitar forum known to mankind, and will continue to be a massive lolcow. I'm sure i wont be to the only one making fun of those people :dunno:
No I agree about the "All the gear and no idea" people for sure!

FMIC owns the rights to Leo's original designs, shapes and inventions including the Telecaster, Stratocaster, Offsets (Mustang, Jazzmaster and Jaguar), Precision Bass, Jazz Bass, etc.,

Anyone who makes a copy that's nearly identical to one of Leo's original designs / body shapes should have to pay a licensing fee to FMIC. FMIC also created a few original designs such as the Katana, Meteora, Performer, that didn't get copied anything like Leo's original designs.

I dont get how people even still associate the original Fender from when Leo was there to this multiple time corporate bought and sold entity of today or even of yesteryear/when he left it.

Like associating Ford Motor Company with Henry Ford? Or Chevrolet with Louis Chevrolet; or IBM with Thomas Watson.

Leo created and sold what he created; FMIC owns the rights to what Leo created and sold to CBS, and what is now FMIC - who also owns Leo's G&L original designs. Leo also sold Music Man where he created the Stingray and Sabre, maybe other original designs, which the new owners successfully manage to protect Leo's original designs.

You're still going with this crap?

So what shapes, if any, do G&L own?

G&L Leo didn't create new shapes - he copied many of his own original Fender designs; he focused on improving components or creating new tone systems including Saddle-lock bridge, dual-fulcrum vibrato, MFD pickups, PTB tone system and Active/passive tone systems, Most of these ended up used in the L-2000 bass.

He is the creator. He, hinself, the man. I do not believe corporations can own iterations of your ideas, even if they did own the base - which is still unclear to begin with.
