Controversial gear opinions…….lets hear them.

Most peoples amps sound way better than they think, they aren’t playing them loud enough.

“I live in an apartment…” then don’t buy a 100 watt Plexi. A Vietnam DSL sounds oddly great at volume for what you pay.

Oh no...you have this all wrong. I can see your condition from your former internet home is much more serious than we thought.
"Nurse, rush this one to ICU and start an IV of 6 Marshall Stacks...stat!"
Unfortunately the real fix is a 12ax7 suppository, but for the best results it needs to go in, pins first.

When it comes to heavy tones...Voicing always trumps gain
Finding the balance is where it's at, but yeah. Less gain, the right pickups, amp, and speakers for the job. The right eq, and most importantly a solid picking hand technique. If you're the only guitar some vibrato on chords can go a long way too ala Iommi or Pike.

SM57 is overrated

Mahogany as a tonewood is overrated

Unless you abuse your whammy bar like Vai or Dimebag, you don't need a double locking tremolo

If you can't record quality stuff with a simple & affordable audio interface such as a Focusrite Scarlett, then the problem is not the interface

Bolt on guitars sustain the best(granted that it is a well built instrument)

Also don't understand the hype with low output pickups. High output pickups still serve their purpose today.

There are enough pickups and distortion/modulation pedals in the world now, we don't need any more.

Fender and Gibson ran out of good ideas years ago.

What's the part you're making fun of, out of interest?

Well in this case i'm being hyperbolic - no one (including me) is going to make fun of someone just for having gear and not being an amazing player in a vacuum

But there's definitely a pattern with certain types of people having tons of ridiculously expensive gear, barely being able to play it, and talking about said gear (and guitar in general) as if they are an expert and lording it over everyone around them

this has happened over and over on Rig Talk, IRL, and every other guitar forum known to mankind, and will continue to be a massive lolcow. I'm sure i wont be to the only one making fun of those people :dunno:

this.. those types are fun to have around until they start belittling average gear at every turn. if they are going to inject themselves into the "what amp for $1500" thread with how shitty everything recommended is compared to their $8k green face Rev T whatever shit box, thats grounds for being made fun of

Yep, absolutely

As if their precious boojey ears can't handle listening to themselves playing "smoke on the water" with power chords on a les paul studio or LTD into a 2203 or 5150 or whatever the peasants use

it's both hilarious and completely exhausting

I wouldn't even make a point of bringing it up if it hadn't happened so many times on RT with so many people

FMIC owns the rights to Leo's original designs, shapes and inventions including the Telecaster, Stratocaster, Offsets (Mustang, Jazzmaster and Jaguar), Precision Bass, Jazz Bass, etc.,

Anyone who makes a copy that's nearly identical to one of Leo's original designs / body shapes should have to pay a licensing fee to FMIC. FMIC also created a few original designs such as the Katana, Meteora, Performer, that didn't get copied anything like Leo's original designs.
