.....hell, I'm the guy in line at the kids' store asking "so I ordered a cage for my toddler a while ago...did it come in?" to which the lady looked horrified and said "SIR!!! It's not a CAGE - IT'S A PLAY DEN!!!!" to which I replied "whatever, the same company makes it for dogs, with the same model number on the product itself, and they call it a 'play cage' - so whatever makes ya happy. And while you're at it, do you sell lockable lids for cribs". Horrified again, I stopped her and said "Ah, right, wait a second - I believe they're referred to as "safety canopies", but in my book, it's still a f*ckin' lid".

OK, I think I seriously just shat my pants. That is the funniest thing I've read on here in a long time! :hys:
You'll come to realize I say it like it is. The whole fear-based, coddly-woddly bullshit of infant product merchandising and marketing really gets under my skin. I even went as far as to ask our pediatrician if chloroform was still considered a no-no in 'making baby quiet'. You should have seen her face ;)

Don't get me wrong, I love my kids - they just have a Dad with a bent sense of humor who's a realist. As my wife likes to say "He's very, um, pragmatic...as a dad".

Can I call dibs?

I knew it was only a matter of time.

Your request is noted, but bear in mind the dreadful decision to part ways with it has not yet been finalized....

The only thing I'd miss is that nice gold faceplate and script logo smiling at me every time I pulled it outta storage!!!

then why don't you just buy an MG 1x12?
wait - then you wouldn't be able to brag about it on internet forums lol

If you don't use it sell it  I wouldn't keep it around just for nostalgia, especially if you want to get something else that you could use to freshen your sound back up.

This.

i sold my wolfgang special - where they are getting harder to find and are not made anymore for the reason i did not use it and had problems with upper fret access.

dump the marshall if you dont use it and sell it to someone who will - they will appreciate the fact you understand this and your amplifier will go to a new home to do what it was built to do

So, I have a beautiful 1984 Marshall 2204, vertical inputs, Drakes, all original, super clean condition, etc. etc. Yeah, basically the 2204 that everybody wants.

sorry, I have the 2204 everyone wants, it's an 81 :D

I would sell it, you can find another, its nothing crazy rare like my 2204 that was modded by Bogner, now that's a irreplacable amp.

I'm surprised no one beat me to the dibs "button". Your conundrum and unenviable decision is duly noted. As soon as you decide which side of the fence you are coming down on, email me at nelson.mark@remyinc.com. I travel a lot, so don't be surprised if I don't respond immediately. I'm definitely interested...

If it helps your decision making process, I will hug it and pet it and squeeze it and love it and play it every day. I will stick a boost pedal in front of it, a speaker cabinet behind it, crank it and revel in it's bone stock Marshally glory

I need a Marshall

This post is so funny. I just had the same conundrum. I sold my 82 2204 only to buy it right back because I got cold feet. Really nice guy bought it and I detected some cold feet on his side which worked out because I was really feeling the remorse. Keep it!! You will be sorry if you sell.

After much thought last night, I have decided to hold on to it for the time being. I just have a real strong feeling that, 10 years from now, I'll regret selling it BIG TIME.

Thanks for the input everyone!

As I mentioned before its not the best time to sell anyway. At least get it out of the closet and get it in a position to be used. Its good for amps to be powered up at least every few months, otherwise the electrolytic caps are supposed to dry out faster.

Anyway, good luck man

That's funny. My Dad used to tell my brother and I that when we wouldn't go to sleep, he would blow the pilot light out in the oven, turn on the gas and put us in there for a few minutes until we fell asleep. Come to think of it, that may explain a lot about my brother and I.

To the original OP, I've said many times that I would never sell my '82 2204. But the truth is, if I found something that worked better for me, it would be gone. I don't believe in owning stuff I don't use.

me too! haha!

Also I love that it's "too clean". I bought it specifically that it wasn't very gainy on its own. I don't even want it hot-rodded or an effects loop added.
