I still say this isn't an industry thing, it is a lazy musician, a lot of music sucks thing.
I was four months old when Hendrix died, yet I am into his music and still enjoy it. My kid likes Hendrix too and sometimes you'll hear teenagers at Guitar Center playing Hendrix songs, Zeppelin, the Doors, etc.
Most of what I listened to growing up was from a band and wasn't a band thrown together by the industry. It was a band that toured and played what they wanted to play, etc, OUTSIDE of what some label wanted , etc.
I think it is great kids can record from home. But I don't want to hear some samples and something recorded in 20 minutes without any soul to it. It goes back to what I said about convenience. Why form a band and do shows and write songs when you can fo a quick single by yourself and post it that night?
