Received an email from Social Security. They are moving to a single ID / account for all government interactions, Login.gov.
Once you create your Login.gov account, you have to link your social security, and any other government programs you have accounts for.
I login to my new Login.gov account, and there's an option to view/remove or connect to the connected account. I can see in my list, that I successfully connected my social security account this morning. When I try to access my social security account using my new Login.gov id, it says I should get an activation code, which I never receive. If I select I didn't receive the activation code, it asks me to provide social security information, then when I submit it, it says it can't create the account (well, it's already there anc connected, according to Login.gov!).
It gives you a number to call, my wait time is 20 minutes, and I'm 14 minutes into the wait; let's see if they can understand the situation, and fix it.
