Dear Van Halen....

Ed's pride is what stops a Hagar reunion from happening. He became a dick & control freak with Sammy & he knows it, but pride won't make him apologize.

Ed was much happier writing songs for Sammy's vocal range. He is cutting off his nose to spite his face!

When? He still tours now. Was out on tour last year.

For them to tour together it would be almost as unlikely as the original GnR lineup to be able to get together and last more than a month before someone wigged out in a major way ending it. Plus Sammy would probably insist that Mike came back, and Ed would have to tell his kid to go home and eat more candy bars :lol: :LOL: !

Actually Ed has changed a lot from 1. being sober, 2. having a wife who doesn't play mamma and 3. having a great relationship with his kid who is mature way beyond his years. And Ejecta, the answer is "a little bit."
 
No one owes anyone anything I guess - but many other great American bands have been much kinder to the fans and reaped even more cash rewards for it. Metallica, Aerosmith come to mind. They released all kinds of cool archive stuff over the years. VH - not much really except some half assed greatest hits albums. I love VH, but they treat their fans like crap.
 
Not a Van Hagar fan myself.. I enjoyed seeing EVH Stealth walls on both sides of the stage :lol: :LOL: :lol: :LOL:

I love Dave...but he did struggle a lot last night. Hope he gets his shit together...

How many threads have you started about Page and or Hendrix?
 
Eddie Van Halen is the greatest guitarist/musician ever to walk the planet...that being said, the current lineup of Van Halen is a complete mess. Im sure Alex and Eddie are not deaf yet...Im sure they hear the soundboards and the brutal realization that this just isnt working out. The Dave stage routine is pathetic and sad...As for his vocals, he isnt even close...not even a bad impression of what the old stuff sounds like. Off time...missed cues...I have reviewed much Youtube footage of this lineup and realize that this is nothing but a cash grab..I know many a hardcore Van Halen fan who refuse to pay to see this lineup after listening to the horrible live recordings from the reunion tour onward. i have heard some of the clips of this new live album and wonder how the mighty VH could lower themselves to releasing complete and utter garbage. For those of you who say "well, Dave never really was a singer, he was Toastmaster General ect" ....It is no longer 1984 and time hasnt been good for his stage act or his vocals .One guy on here said "Ed, you dont owe us anything...blah blah blah." Ok...but if anything, you owe it to yourself not to embarrass the legacy that you created regarding the greatest band ever to walk the earth. So again, please take your sports car to Caludio's and get Sammy's number and let BOCEPHUS MODE begin!
 
Sammy still has way way more going on than Dave does...the man (Sammy) is 68 years old (7 years older than Dave I think), and doesn't look like it and still has his voice (amazing in itself that he can still sing almost anything from his catalog) and always seems to be having fun when gigging. If I had a choice of whose band to be in it would be Sammy, zero thought required. I wish it wasn't so but Dave has been phoning it in for a long time now. He doesn't even rehearse with the band, and his winging it sucks. He cant sing, cant dance (the attempts at the circle leg kicks made me laugh) and he cant front....over.

Sammy can still sing his balls off and is better frontman than Roth at this point.

Agreed on the cash grab comments - at least when Led Zeppelin put out Celebration Day they put out something awesome sounding. This sounds like a shadow of the band I grew up loving.
 
I think musically they still bring it pretty well, Alex still plays well and Eddie since cleaning up is playing great. Wolfgang is a solid bass player too so I have zero issues with the band musically, they still play those songs with some level of conviction which you cant say about a lot of bands that have been doing it for this long. If you had a band that needed a singer frontman and Dave was a nobody he wouldn't get the gig....just sayin
