Mike, you can't go wrong with either. If you can try both then do it. Having owned a VH4 and played both, I tend to lean towards the VH4.
Good luck on your continued quest for tone.

Well, I think I've hammered out a deal on a blueface VH4, gonna get the details worked out tonight.

:D wish me luck....

I think you'll like it, even if you don't like it, it'll fit your right hand like nothing else.

right on, I hope I like it, I enjoyed the Herbert when I got to play it, the Diezel tone is definetely something I like, now we'll see if it's something I can use. :D

So all you Dar guys....................tell me about the owner and builder :)

What are the owner/builder's past experience in the amp world? :)

Tell me about his business practices........ :)

Any clips out there? :)

I am interested who here that said Dar knows Dar.................... :)

Meshuggah doesn't even have their own signature amp yet... how long has it been now since they've spoken about that thing?

Anyhow, if you're into articulation and girth, I'd say Natas is the answer.

Is it an older blue face? Just curious. I've heard the older blue faces have less gain, I've never played one to confirm that though so it could be bullshit. Just a thought :D

I spent the afternoon with Mike today and played the FBM100H and Hilligan voiced Tuzzia extensively. He is a very down to earth guy and loves to talk any and all things amp related. In terms of business practice, he is one of the few boutique builders that does not require a deposit. He understands his niche and builds some of the most forward thinking and unique amps on the market.

The FBM100H is in my opinion the ultimate metal amp. It is more sterile than the Tuzzia, which is not surprising considering its intended application. The level of saturation and clarity is simply astonishing. I can't compare it to anything else I've ever played. I will say that the Metal 3 channel's voicing agreed with me most. I can't recommend the amp enough for anything requiring palm muting.

He has bucks, we all know that so the deposit thing is not really surprising. Most amp builders have to fund their own R&D, test mules, shipping to certain people to demo, etc. Plus notice all the spam for amps not even built or delivered yet?? Imagine if deposits were not binding these flippers........builders would be losing their asses. Deposit = smart business esp for the small guy.

So what is the owner's own resume in regards to building amps? Does he play?

Hope it works out, I would love to have a blue face VH4  Channel 3 is da shit

I'm quite excited about getting it, there are some great clips I've been checking out. Always wondered about the VH4, gonna be fun playing around with it.

On a side note: I'm gonna redo my clip of the CCV, before I ship it out ;)

Juggs, I wish you all the best... I'd have recommended the newer version VH4 personally, as it's had a number of iterations to its circuit, and personally, I don't think the Blueface is as tight an amp as the current models - but hey, to each their own. I guess I just don't want you to end up not liking the Vs based on your upcoming experience with the Blueface. That being said, there's a good chance you'll shit yer pants when you crank that puppy on, and that's what I'm really hoping for

Peace,
Mo

I was in a room full of builds in progress and I know he is adding staff to rectify the delay in production. Once the Forza'a and FBM heads are completed, he will start the FBM pedals. Can't say I disagree with your position on deposits.

I know he does play, but I'm not sure of his level of expertise. As for amp building credentials, I don't think he has much history. That said, I have no reservations about his ability to design and build quality product. As a previous thread mentioned, Gaston Glock had a similar foray into his field.

Digi,

Mike from DAR is literally a friggin Rocket Scientest! He used to have a bio up, if i remember correctly he's an EE who speciallized in transformers for the Aerospace industry.

Mike will love it.. ;)

Boooooooo! Hissssss!

Either the Herbert of even the VH4 should be better than a CCV though.

Everyone has a favourite Diezel and the subject of the "best" one is always a bit touchy, but frankly most of us would be at least reasonably happy with any of them. You simply cannot go wrong with this manufacturer: all Diezel's rule.
