Diezel VH4 and G Major 2

New to the G Major and technically effects in general (besides some light chorus and delay). I am curious as how to set the levels effectively. I don't understand the technical jumble (dB, HZ, etc...) and I usually just use my ears, but something sounds a little off. I am running a Diezel VH4 with the G Major 2 in the serial loop. It doesn't sound bad (the effects or like my tone is getting raped), but there is a slight difference and it has to be level based. My ignorance is definitely the issue haha. Is there a general rule of thumb for me to be adjusting the levels of the G Major 2 along with the volumes on my VH4? (Please keep the terminology simple for me)

I just want to get this little issue squared away haha and to have the best tone I can

I own the VH4S and the Herbert(MK2). I have owned the Axe Fx Standard, G System, G Major 2, Eventide TimeFactor, and Eventide PitchFactor.

The TC stuff sucks tone. You will notice the VH4 sounds less punchy and clear when the G Major 2 (or G System) is in the serial effects loop. The TC products do not have True-Bypass.

The Axe Fx sucks less tone than the TC stuff. The Axe Fx does not have True-Bypass.

But the Eventide products suck so little tone that it really isn't noticeable AND THEY HAVE TRUE-BYPASS. So I recommend investing in either an Eventide Eclipse or Eventide Factor pedals (TimeFactor;PitchFactor;Space;ModFactor) for your effects.

True-Analog-Bypass allows the effects processor to be switched out of the chain, so your signal doesn't go through analog-to-digital conversion and back.

I haven't noticed my tone being less punchy or clear yet, but I am still messing around with it haha. How much of a difference would you say? Just so I can try to hear it next time I play with it.

Define True-Bypass: A pedal with no buffer circuit driving the "downstream" output cable when it is turned off. The input and output become hard wired together to pass the dry signal thru. The opposite of a buffered pedal.

TC G System and G Major 2 do not have true-bypass. Eventide factor pedals and Eclipse do.

Test your amp with the TC effects processor in and out of the serial effects loop for yourselves. Then you can decide if there is a difference in tone.

All processors are going to change the tone. But some change it more than others. I am saying that out of the units I've tried (Axe Fx Standard, TimeFactor, PitchFactor, G System, G Major 2) in the serial effects loop of the Diezel VH4, the Eventide pedals change the tone the least.

My g-major alters my tone of my Herbert in no way - and I have my g-major engaged to my Herbert at all times.

I notice no change of tone with my VH4 and G Major 2 in the serial loop. I did some hard core level adjusting... that was the only issue I had.
