I totally do believe it............and the Wizards was/were used to layer with his Randall tones on top in the studio which alot of producers and engineers do.This is a fact .Even Eick messages me the exact specs Dime used . This is old news . It’s crazy people still don’t believe it View attachment 407134
You are making the argument that Dime's main core tone were the Wizard amps and I and many others that have owned or own Randall RG100ES's and Century's respectfully disagree with you. I'm sure the Wizard sounds cool maybe even great but just like the PRS Archon 100 clip I posted from Wes Hauch the tube amp doesn't have the teeth, crunch grind and the low end hits different than the Randalls you have to admit that.
Wes Hauch is probably a bigger Dime fan than you or I and probably has access to whatever amps he wants and I don't seem him mentioning Wizards amps being the source of the Dimes main tone especially 1990-2000 production years Wizard amps as what was used for Dime's main tones, these guys including Ola have Randalls in their collections.
I would even venture to say if someone reamped the exact same Dime effect signal chain in a blind test through 3 different amps, two tube amps and one Randall amp people could pick out the OG Randalls every time.
Dime is long gone why hasn't Grady came out and spilled the beans that Dime was really using Wizard amps behind the Randalls and in the studio? I believe it is because Dime used his RG100ES and Century 200's live and in the studio for his main tones.
Again if you can find me one video clip or make a video clip of your modern Wizard MTL2(which probably has was more gain than a 1999-2000 Wizard) we can compare/contrast the tones. I suspect no matter how good your Wizard clip may sound the tones will have that rounded off compression and softer response and attack that tube amps have compared to an original Randall RG100ES and Century 200 amp.
And I will repeat....If Dime loved the sound of the Wizards over the Randalls he would have played them live and he would not have had Kranks amps make him an amp. Even the Krank amp did not have Dime's Randall sound or response.
