I just scored free tickets thru my ATX connection for Santana with the Doobie Bros (yup with Michael McDonald) at Moody next month. They aren't great seats but if I had paid for them they would've been about $85 each. It's bs though. I had to create a ticketmaster account to accept the tickets and my "phone is your tickets" smh that's so freaking lame.....

I checked what premium tickets near the front would cost....damn near 1000 bucks each. WOW.

Fuckin' Roth has been washed for a looong time now. Ever since he started taking it upon himself to vamp all over the place.
It's part vanity and part hubris. When he stopped singing the Van Halen songs correctly and just winging it all over the place the melody was shot and the lyrics became a joke.

I've always regretted that Ed and Dave couldn't bury the hatchet in 1996 for one more album. Me Wise Magic and Can't Get This Stuff No More (indeed) caught the highest tier of VH magic again.....only for a moment....

For background, we've been together a long time, and one of our best memories from when we were dating was going to see the Eatem' and Smile tour with Vai. It was a killer show, and we talk about it from time to time.
She was pretty surprised how lame this was.
She did ask me who was playing guitar, because she thought that part of the tune was on the money.

Another thing i cant stand is old hardcore and metal bands doing "reunions", like its cool you guys had a 5 song demo and opened for a couple cool bands at the VFW hall in 1999, its now 2026 though, youre all 50 and literally no one cares, and youre just taking the spot from a new band putting in the work.

I remember them being kinda full of themselves. On the other hand another band on that bill called Fallujah were cool as fuck. A couple weeks after that show they wrecked with their trailer on some black ice in like South Dakota or something. We put a tip jar out ( which we had a rule against doing) and donated the proceeds to them to get some more gear.

Damn. And his current line up of musicians is extremely good. Just watching a night of Al Estrada is worth the cost of the ticket to me. And isn't the bass player in the 'Panama' clip the same guy that has toured with George Lynch? Band sounds really tight. It's like he just horses around on purpose when he could turn in a much more legit performance with not a whole lot more effort. Its more of an 'attitude / gratitude' thing at this point.

It's seriously so obnoxious. We're playing a festival in seattle this fall, and like half of the bands are 100% the exact type of "Reunion" you're talking about.

I don't mind it when an older band is still going strong, putting out real records, doing their thing... I don't think anyone minds that. For obvious examples, Motorhead, Annhilator, bands like that.

But everyone knows that it's obvious when a band is just milking it for cash as much as humanly possible

Theres an entire economy of reunions, has-beens, and never-was, along with the older bands still trucking along doing it for real.
