Rock music was D.O.A in the early 2000's but 60 year old EVH wannabes aren't wrecking the market for young bands. Young people are. Young bands rely on young people, not retirees. Demographics.

It's seriously so obnoxious. We're playing a festival in seattle this fall, and like half of the bands are 100% the exact type of "Reunion" you're talking about.

I don't mind it when an older band is still going strong, putting out real records, doing their thing... I don't think anyone minds that. For obvious examples, Motorhead, Annhilator, bands like that.

But everyone knows that it's obvious when a band is just milking it for cash as much as humanly possible

Honestly the shit like DLR and motley crue seriously need to retire. They're holding down younger bands, sucking all the oxygen out of the room, and they haven't written any music worth a shit in decades.

i believe it is in the hardcore and metal world at least, where fests have taken over as they have everywhere else. I see the lineups and cant believe how high up the list some of these bands who havent played in 20 years are, im not sure what the promoters are thinking other than they want to see these bands themselves, then more often than not the crowd reaction for them is terrible and all i can think was theres newer younger bands people actually want to see that should have had that slot.

Name recognition wins in the industry, regardless of current or past ability to perform. That's what sells the tickets that cover the cost of the bands, venue, promotion, etc etc unless you have a corporate sponsor footing the bill as a tax write off for their own business. It's not a new concept.

I will say this though, I really enjoyed seeing Bulletboys a few weeks ago and it was all four original members and they sounded great and seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Saw John Mellencamp last week and was a great time! I think some bands can pull it off and some can't.

My buddy went to see "Sons of Cream" and said they sucked so bad. Said they had no heart.

No way man! It is fun enjoying that music and not being in a hurry to grow up, get old and just do nothing in life. Some of the most fun I have is at these shows where people are high fiving each other and singing along to these songs.

I think if I felt he was really feeling it, would be cool but he doesn't really seem to be.

Sabbath Nights
Bulletboys
Enuff Z'Nuff
Buckcherry
Rhino Bucket

and price included these bands but my band had a gig and I couldn't stick around:

L.A. Guns
Helix
Kingdom Come
Dangerous Toys

$50 to see them, meet some fo the band members, etc. I met Vinnie Appice and signed a photo for $10.

Why would I go see DLR when I got to see three nights of great hair metal for $50?

Comparing apples to oranges..Glad you enjoyed your shows but Most of those bands work on a totally different business model, they fly in the day of or night before their show, use rented backline equipment, house sound engineers, little to no techs, low budget hotel for the night, then fly home. DLR is old school with large operating costs, 3 tour buses, Semi truck for our gear and consoles, full road crew includes monitor engineer, FOH engineer, guitar and drum techs, nice hotels... unfortunately this equals a higher price ticket to cover costs, you are also paying to see a legend who's probably sold more records then ALL of those bands you listed combined!
