A lot of that sound was all about volume. There really is no way around it. I used to put blankets over my 4x12's for small venues or tilt them back.

Every clip I've seen of that latest tour, apart from DLR's obvious vocal issues, is that it all looks a bit bare-bones; house lights up, no stage lighting to speak of, no backdrop, weird arrangement of backup singers (Who sound fine tbf to them) and just all a bit underwhelming. Can see why that can all contribute to bad word of mouth and low ticket sales.
He's never been a huge draw on his own apart from the first two solo album tours from what I can gather, so none of the above will help.

Agreed, if Dave could sing he'd struggle no more than any other artist in these economic times. Just to much social media out there with live cuts of him singing and it's pretty brutal.
And let's be honest here, Estrada is a bad ass guitarist but the other backing band members it's just a weird disconnect, it's like they aren't really part of the show. Sam's out there with Mike, Kenny and Satch putting on a full concert production. Satch himself is good for 5K a night. It's an all star band.

On ticket prices, I do agree there. The whole thing is such a scam now. That's why I made the decision to not grab some Rush tickets now. I paid north of $100 10 years ago for them, but now I'm just not feeling it, especially as I have to fly and get a hotel.
Meanwhile, there are great local and regional bands playing here, as well as those smaller old acts, for $50 (or less) a ticket. I'll go support those and the smaller atmosphere is nice. I don't do as many as I want because I'm getting older and can't stay out that many nights and still function during the day, but still prefer supporting them. (Plus, lots of my students play in them and/or work those shows.)

I’ve dealt with that myself, at the same time the drummer would try and pull off unrehearsed tom stunts different from the recordings which would always land on the “uh” or “E”, which wouldn’t sound cool even if it he did land on time, screwing everyone up and sounding like shit. I wish there was video of those gigs just so I could see the look on my face looking at the drummer and singer lol
