Does my band need a second guitarist (or just a mimiq pedal LOL)?

Not enough information, depends 100% and completely on the style of the bassist that you end up with.

In the recording, yes, you need to hard pan your rhythm, but the 2nd guitar question is entirely dependent on what the bassist is doing, how busy they are, and what type of tone they have

if you put a gun to my head i would say no, you dont NEED a 2nd guitarist, but if your bassist is bad/boring you might

I agree with this. I want a good bassist who is busy but also gives space when needed. I do not think a second guitarist is needed if the bassist is good.

Fuck that mimiq. Didn’t work for me. Get an aby and run two halfstacks. Put about 25 ms of delay on one of the stacks and call it a day…. Hopefully you won’t have any ground issues or noise…. Nothing sounds like running like that…

I really should have clarified my scope in the OP. I know these recordings are shit. I'm not asking how to make these recordings sound better or how to make the guitar better. I'm asking if you think the songs would benefit from a second guitar part.

Sometimes you end up with a "compromise" bassist though and in that case yes, a second guitar player might be needed 🤷

But then how will my ego cope?
The songs need bass guitar right away. Second guitar TBD.
Appreciate everyone's input.

I think a second guitar would suit those tunes.

That’d dependent on what type of bassist you find, if it’s someone with a really present sound who adds some flavor to the mix, another guitar could be unnecessary. If it’s a guy who just kind of sits behind the guitar, that second guitar would really fill in a lot.

100% agree. Also if it was me playing bass, i would probably ASK you "what kind of bass do you want on this? busy? filling out the sound? or laying back and grooving?"

Agree. I think this is really similar to what @DanTravis62 was saying as well.
I want to find that great bassist who is looking to play more than roots and 135 arps. If I can, then I don't think a second guitar part is needed. Much appreciated.

Right, cool. Where is this bassist? Is he in Chicago? Lol.

I think your songs sound killer and I don't think they need a second guitar player. With just you, bass, and drums, you can sound huge and all your cool riffs will come through nice and clean.

Thank you dude. Just gotta find that bassist.

what exactly didnt work though?? if you have a half stack on each side of the stage and send the mimiq'd signal on 1 dub to one of them, its varying the delay and attack to give you that double tracked stereo image with one take, i really cant imagine wanting to play live without it honestly

As a single guitarist it's the simplest way to get that type of stereo image in a band

But I imagine if youre playing at home it would seem kind of pointless

It's just so satisfying yo

@RaceU4her has far better Mimiq clips than anything I could do but for me, it makes 2 cabs (2 amp points of reference) sound like 5. It tricks your ears because the algorithm 'fluctuates' the delay in and out or forward and back. It just spreads the sound out so nicely and my cabs are not even spaced far apart like RaceU does.

Again, not the greatest example-

Can you post your cabling and route? Where does that sit in your chain? Are you running any stereo effects into it?

It pretty much is exactly how it looks from right to left. Wah-Bad Monkey-Phaser-ABY-Mimiq< amp 1 and amp 2

The reason it works (for me) is because the Mimiq has 2 inputs and 2 outputs. So it sits perfectly behind an ABY box and set for 2 "dubs". The Mimiq works with a single amp too but not as well. But no, I'm not running anything in stereo. I got this pedal because of @RaceU4her 's clips. He is more sophisticated as he has his cabs spread across the entire room, is mic'ing his cabs iirc and has all the Mimiq controls maxed. Helps that he is a kick ass guitar player too :D

It just created a lot of noise in my setup. I actually kinda liked it. Once I actually added another amp the mimiq was done for me.
