You're not missing much, TBH. I agree it has its uses and whatnot, but it's also very dated-sounding, IMO.

I need to find a way to repair this. It still works fine, but my dog pissed on it and by the time I realized it, everything holding it together was rotted away. I don’t want to rehouse it, that’s a cool fucking serial number (Feb, ‘81)

That has to become an idea for a pedal. Like the "Houndstreamer" or 4-Legged Pisser", etc
