Not a lot of info on this Tube.. The Frame Grid design is a real thing and is supposed to do nice things, but it's not that popular.. It seems like it would be just the ticket for a high gain amp.

Anyone try the new JJ version?

I have 4 of them. Tried them in V1 and PI of various modded Marshall types. They are vey compressed and hit the mids hard. Almost like stepping on a tube screamer set as a clean boost. They have that tightening effect. Good for cleaning up a sloppy amp. But if you are already hitting with an OD, then it’s a little too much IMO. I still prefer the 83s as it’s a little more natural sounding in my amps at least.
 
I just got a set and think they are really good. Way better than the standard. I agree on the mids but the sound of the Tube overall is thick but still articulate.
