All anyone wants to buy guitars and learn guitar for is to copy some other guitarist and it while it's totally normal, at a certain point it makes my eye twitch
Funnily, I built my Gilmour Strat specifically to play Gilmour shit with, but once I started playing it I was drawn to entirely differently and tones than Gilmour’s and realized I was starting to etch out my own thing within that Strat space, which I’d never felt I was coming close to with humbuckers and high gain amps. The more I post-92 metal tones now, the more they start blending in together unless it’s someone like Dime or Cantrell.
This is actually been the point of my focus lately, where I’m going next with my music and playing. I’m playing more than I have in over 20 years and I have the eagerness to play like I did when I was 15 again and it’s not metal fueling me anymore. This is why I got into lessons with Techdeth, I knew the only way forward for me was to learn WTF I was doing theory wise so I can dictate a bit more than stumble upon.
