eBay asking for SSN to list items for sale

I just got the email from ebay as well to update my account. FWIW they only asked for the last 4 of my SS#, but I did have to provide my bank account info. I sell all kinds of things on ebay in addition to gear so keeping my account active is worth it to me. I may take the 10% + 3% hit on all my sales, but with patience I get what I ask for which is more than any other platform.

I'm not too far from Branson, Mo. which is a huge music town (lot's of music shows, musicians, etc.), so you'd think that the market around here would be better than it is but the sad fact is that most peeps around these parts don't have the disposable income to spend.
We've been to Branson. Had a great time! I got to hang-out with Merrill Osmond for about 20 minutes. Nobody wanted my 4x12 but they damn-sure want my SJ 2554 1x12 combo. It was in the photo with the 4x12... I had to post a note that it wasn't for sale, just to get people to stop asking me for it.

In the early-mid 2000's, I was living in ATL.. Now THAT was a great place for music in general. I ended up back in this area around the late 2000's, but by that time my music "career" was pretty much over. I was a child of the 80's that made it into the grunge era before I kind of faded away, and I was never really that good of a player to begin with. LOL I just played because I enjoy it, not sure if anyone else did though.
Atlanta was an epicenter for great original music back in the late 70's. I suppose it's like everywhere else now... Rap, Hip-Hop, bitches and yo! :m4::no:

Yeah, Branson is cool to us around here if you want to eat at some of the national chain restaurants and stuff that we don't have here in town but it's not really a novelty like it would be for some. Kinda like living next door to Disney World, it's just another town with too much traffic. LOL I've learned that lesson with gear that's not for sale myself. If I'm selling something, it's the only thing in the pic. If they come over to try something out, it's demo-ed in the garage and they never see the other stuff. That reason is two fold. I don't want to muddy up the sale, by them seeing something else they might want more and I don't want strangers seeing what I've got.

When your family has season passes to Silver Dollar City and get that big discount, so they take you there 2-3 times a week all summer, so much that you start to get to know certain workers there...yeah that's Branson.

I should have snapped a new pic, but I'm lazy. I know what you mean about living next to Disney... The traffic here is an abomination! I stopped riding my Dyna back in 2008. The guy who picked-up the 4x12 cabinet said that his cousin was paralyzed by some dumb whore who blew through the light in downtown Orlando. This place was awesome back in the mid 1970's to early 80's, barely recognizable now. I can't wait to get the f*** out of here. I stopped surfing in the early 90's, so I rarely head to the beach. When I do, it's to eat. Anyone moving to Orlando had better learn to speak Spanish, that's for sure. Trump tried to dump thousands of Mexican illegals in Florida... DeSantis told him to go piss up a rope!

Ah yes.. Steal your Dollar City! I'm way to out of shape these days to navigate those hills! LOL

Same can be said for several other places in Florida. Ever been to Miami? Makes Orlando look like Iowa. And those all aren't Mexicans... most are from Central and South America... as well as Cuba. Not that many Mexicans. Unless you are confusing them with Guatemalans.

And as far as speaking Spanish... you better avoid: California, most large cities in Texas, Arizona, New Mexico and several other places besides Florida. It's a changing world.

It’s not a scam. Reverb and eBay both now use a managed payments system and they’re bound to federal regulation. They don’t care about your SSN. The IRS does. They (eBay) don’t dump your SSN on an Excel file and dust it off when needed. They have to maintain regularly audited systems for compliance. A breach of your information is no more likely at eBay than at any of the other hundred places you’ve submitted your SSN and details.

Wait til next year, supposedly anyone with sales over $600 on eBay will get a 1099

The Wild West of Internet buying/selling has finally come to a more even playing field with brick and mortar establishments. The internet was so new the traditional rules didn’t apply and people loved the loopholes. Now that they have to actually follow the law like they’re supposed to people are getting all upset. Look up “use tax” if you want more of a wakeup call for stuff you think you didn’t/don’t paid/pay taxes on.

Definitely not saying I agree with the all of tax laws, how much we pay and how our money is spent - but I’m also not ignorant of what the actual laws are. Weaponize your intellect.
