Shared this many times before, but I worked at a guitar store that was the largest Texas Peavey dealer. I got to go to Peavey’s dealer seminar at the Meridian HQ in 1998.
One of the days in that week, we were in a highly anticipated class with James Brown, who was going through guitar amps and technical stuff.
Halfway through the class, somebody came in and told James he had to take a call. James was like, “ah maaaann, I wanted to finish the class!” He walked out with his head low. Eddie was the guy on the phone. It was about the 5150II we found out later. Something about the foot switch—after watching this, maybe the clean/rhythm switch. I was freaking out because I was fanboy #1 at that time.
James’ stories in this video above completely align with what I saw that day.
Later, James took us out to a dive bar with his band, The Dirty Dogs, and we all jammed on stage using Wolfgangs and Ultra combos. Amazing freaking week. Everyone in my group was a 1st class shredder. I was the least experienced guitarist there.

Hard watch as a fan. Lies about amp voltages when younger, lies about d-tuna, lies about board room incident. It’s word because some elements of his personality seem really cool and caring and others immature and messed up.

You can't judge his actions from a normal standpoint.
Addicts lie, steal, forget everything they said yesterday and become really selfish.
Not excusing his actions but just mentioning his addiction. If you have never been around an addict, you may not understand.

Its funny how ive heard for years people accuse Randall Smith of ripping off Soldano with the Recto but ive never heard
anyone accuse Hartly Peavey of ripping off Soldano with the 5150 amp which is what the PV 5150 is.

Yeah say what you want, he obviously became worse as the substance abuse got worse, but the stories are consistent across his whole career. He was a singular talent that redefined guitar but he was also definitely an asshole lol
