Heya guys and gals... i just gotten two cone of eminence governor and am planning to replace out 2 p50es, now i have no idea whats the best way to place them? I would prefer tone over flexibility...

I have no idea if a blend of Governor and p50es be good... if so any idea of getting them into right placing? Ie X pattern or Left pair &Right pair or upper pair & lower pair?

Any tone speaker enthusiaist could advise me? Thx :)

I did this. Didn’t care for the p50s mixed with them in x. Go p50s on bottom if you are gonna keep em.

I actually went with all 4 governors in my Splawn cab. Sounded good. Gov/Man O War were a good combo as well. I would also try Gov/Creamback M65 combo.

So ya did mix the p50es with governor? Maybe care explain why placing the G on top with the P50es below? Is the p50es tighter? And by placing the G on top you near more of the forward mid of the G?

I always put the speaker that has more bass on the bottom.
Hey Stephan how are things? I often see ya at the recent malcontent lol... i prolly need to do a p50es to governor comparison... i have no idea which has more bass thou and sadly i dont know how to decipher the speaker behaviour chart yet lol

Life is good.

I can't do it by a chart either. If they are close I would put the louder on on the bottom.

I always do top and bottom. You could always try both ways and see what you like.

I tried a bunch of combinations of Celestion in two 4x12 having a half dozen people listen blind. (Not knowing what I was doing). Everyone picked the same and I agreed it sounded best.

There is three guys work I really like Andy Marshall, Randall Smith and Steve Fryette. The Malcontents is always interesting. I see they are going to highlight individual amps on the show and looking forward to that.
Joe getting Steve to do this show is excellent. I believe it is good for Steve to get direct feedback in this format.
As he develops the Series II Ultra Lead I hope we get to see the prototypes.
This would be a whole new way for amp builders to get direct feedback when doing a design.

Just wondering if you or the guys here whom have change the speakers on the 412 do specifically have difficulities popping out these speakers ? I got a hard time getting these speakers out previously and i gotta use adhesive remover to spray at the metal rim of the speakers where the area it sits...

Just probably due to the sticky goo on the underside of the speakers acting as a cushion between the speakers and the cab mounting frame...

Was even thinking could it be humidity and the hot weather i resides in do cause the thin flim of cushion or seal to literally stick on over time ?

Do you guys have any specific tricks to get it less sticky on frame and easier for future speaker swap?

No trick....but just be careful. I have damaged a speaker removing them when they stick.
