I'm using an EVH 2x12 with my Splawn Quickrod. Love it.
Any insight as to how focused, and what to expect? More Greenback, than V30, I would assume.

No actual feedback from me to offer, but I saw that Cantrell's new Friedman rig incorporated 2 - EVH 212's as stage monitors, taking a DI from his HBE's. So, I think it would be a safe assumption that they would be more focused rather than disperse a lot, using them as monitors.

I have been thinking about one of these to go with my 5150 III mini. How is the projection from these? I am worried that with the cab sitting flat the sound would just go past my legs, and I tried one tilted back just at lower volumes it seemed really bright like that. If it was just a couple of inches taller I would be able to stand it up, and problem solved.

I got mine yesterday and got to crank it up for about an hour tonight with my mini. My impression was thst it is a damn bright cabinet. I realize it takes awhile for the speakers to break in.

Im on the fence on this one. Im going to give it a workout on friday with the 100 watt head. My initial reaction is to return this and continue to use my Splawn cab with SB25s. Im going to give it a bit but that is my initial impression with very little time on it.

This has also been my experience with my (2) EVH 1x12's being very bright overall, which is why I am considering some darker, higher wattage speakers like the lynchbacks.

Maybe that's why Jason likes his so much with your old quickrod? That amp to me needed more bite...bite that I couldn't get out of my small block cab

Could be. Its a really bright cabinet !

You have to try the Majik Box Rocket Fuel with your QR. My Nitro sounds better than ever when I hit it with that pedal.

The celestion anni G12H30 speakers in these cabs take forever to break in, so I would try to be patient or go with a variac to try to break them in faster.

Yeah I figure this is a big part of my immediate dissatisfaction. Going to keep the cab and beat the hell out of the speakers for a few months.

I have only tried an 808 and an mk.4.23 I'm not really a boost guy :aww:

I did love the mk.4.23 but sold it like I do most my stuff lol

I really love the cabs..........2x12 doesn't have quite the low end as the 4x12 (DuH).. but it is very tight.......BADASS..........

Just FYI the new 100 watt heads have as much gain on the blue channel as the 50 watts do.

Really trying to like this cab but so far its not clicking...and I plugged my Nitro in and it died.......its a sign from god.......

Buy some of these for your splawn cab ;)

And desicrate my Splawn ? Nom nom nom !

The tilt back is a great function. I may hace screwed the amp in too tight though as the feet of the amp put visible grooves in the top of the cabinet after only an hour. I will use the tilt back at one real small gig I do.

I have gone back and forth between the evh and splawn cabs today and I finally figured out how to dial the eq in better with the EVH cab and it is growing on me. Still bummed about my Nitro...a powertube came unseated and I blew a fuse. Left all my spare fuses at rehearsal so will have to fix it up tomorrow.

well...I do love my evh cab with your old splawn....I will also say that my ears have always liked a little brightness...so it may be that I just like bright? but I also have to play at low volumes so maybe i'm not hearing just how bright the cab can get? I dunno...all I know is that I love the amp/cab combo for my uses

Looking into an EVH 2x12 cab, as I got a great price. Anybody have experiences?
Good, tight sounding speakers, or look elsewhere? Want to match with the 50 watt head.

I have the 50 watter that I run through the EVH 2X12. In fact, didn't I buy the EVH amp from you?

Anyway, yeah, they make a good pair. Prior to getting the EVH cab I used it with a Recto 2x12, and it sounded good with v30s, but it definitely mates well with the EVH cab. The tilting legs are cool.

Yes, you did buy it from me! I'm on to another. It's a sickness, I guess.
