Wow, pedals that are named after something never sound like what they are claiming to sound like, but this was pretty impressive, it definitely had some of that evh squishiness.

Thanks for sharing that demo, your videos are always great, and needless to say you are one of the most tasteful and talented electric players out there!

Pete is a huge inspiration. No one these days like him.
First time I watched him and his Eruption tutorial I felt like I found the most talented player I ever watched.

I really have to say thank you Pete for all your work and I'm going to buy this pedal.

Pete,

Are we hearing a miked cab, or direct with impulses etc?

The Suhr PT100 ch1, into Suhr Reactive Load, and an ownhammer IR of a 1977 Blackback g12M in a Marshall 1960 B cab. Exact same load setup/speaker IR I used to record "The Groomed Noodler" with the Suhr SL67.

How do you feel this compares to the Mad Professor 1 pedal?

Yeah, or the Pinnacle, Brownie, Plexi Tone? THAT would be an awesome shoot out!

Who can concentrate on the pedal? That was some of the most awesome EVH "in the style of..." playing I've seen to date! Really great job!

Awesome as always. You really made the pedal sound great.

Thanks much!

The guitar is a mutt i bought off Ebay- Musikraft body I think... old floyd... schallers and a Motor City 2nd Degree Blackbelt.. I haven't changed anything on it since I got it, it's a fun guitar. it needed a good setup so I took it to Eric at Lush Guitars here in LA and he lowered the nut and stuff.

Awesome playing & sound, very inspiring! Now where is my guitar?

I just ordered one from sweetwater, should be here in a couple of days.....

I played on the pedal the other day for about a hour into Fender ...... Great punch and plenty of gain if you want it.

Sounded great Pete...... :)

The "Brown Sound" thing is sooooooooo dumb.

It's Alex's drums that are "Brown", not EVH's guitar.

If you are an EVH fan, then try to get it right for once, otherwise who cares, Brown, Blue, Pink whatever.

Eddie Van Halen: That’s funny, because people took that whole “brown sound” thing totally out of context. I was never talking about my guitar tone. I was talking about [his brother and Van Halen bandmate] Alex’s snare drum. I’ve always thought Alex’s snare drum sounds like he’s beating on a log. It’s very organic. So it wasn’t my brown sound. It was Alex’s.

Billboard: Do you have synesthesia?

Eddie Van Halen: I think I read something about this. What is that, exactly?

It’s the ability to see sound, which is supposedly why you call your guitar tone the “brown sound.” You supposedly see the color brown when you hear that specific tone.

Then how did this confusion happen?

Eddie Van Halen: It happened years ago. People would ask me about his drumming, and the only way I could explain it was that it had a very brown sound. I’m glad you brought this up, actually, so people can finally understand what I was talking about.

But even so, you must realize that this was a weird way to describe a sound. You thought his drums sounded like a log, so you describe the color of the log itself? Why didn’t you say it was a wooden sound, or a log sound?

Eddie Van Halen: I don’t know. It’s an organic sound. Brown is an organic color.

This makes me suspect you do have synesthesia. Does sound always have a color to you?

Eddie Van Halen:
Alex’s snare drum does, definitely. Otherwise I wouldn’t have called it brown.

Do you see colors with other sounds?

Eddie Van Halen: I guess I’ve never thought about it. To me, music is all about feeling. But in terms of trying to visualize the feeling? I don’t know.
