Hey y’all! I bought an EVH 5150III EL34 50w head a month ago. Played one gig with it a couple weeks ago, it’s awesome. I played it a couple nights ago at home, it was working fine. I plugged in last night and not getting any sound from the amp. Everything seems fine, I thought it could be the cable from the input to the guitar. I tried a couple. When the amp is on and not plugged into the input jack, and cranked up, you can hear the speaker, it sounds like an amp that’s on before you plug into the input jack. I used all the same cords and cabinet with my Marshall JVM and it was fine. When I cranked the Marshall with no cord in the input jack, it sounded exactly like the EVH. So the only thing I can think of is maybe the wire to the input jack came off. I took the front and back grill off, there’s no way to open the bottom up to see the input jack from the inside. Anyone ever have this problem? Any help would be extremely appreciated, thanks for reading! I was hoping to not have to send it back to Sweetwater.

Have you tried plugging into the FX return? Recently had someone run into this and it was a dead preamp tube, but it still passed sound if you went into the FX return (since that bypassed the preamp).

Just tried it, it worked! Just a straight clean tone but that must be the problem, thanks so much!!! I really appreciate the help man. Cheers!
