EVH Striped Series

Strange on the Floyd nut, since they all have been dual mountable, at least the ones I have. So no need to mount through the neck.

As for the pickup height, an annoying but simple fix with a dremel tool.

How's the tone otherwise??

Just got a black and white in (shipping to new owner) red and white and yellow black on FedEx truck Tuesday.

Any updates from you EVH Striped owners???

Sent mine back. I lowered the trem so it's resting against the body and the action is way too high. They should have recessed the tremolo. Maybe I got a lemon. Has anyone else experienced this?

Probably needed a neck shim. That's how they adjust string height on the old evh/ axis and peavey wolfgangs.

That's why I sold my EVH EBMM - impossible to adjust the action without shimming the neck. Bad design just to keep the Floyd level with the body.

I would take the D-Tuna off and just float the Floyd!

There's nothing wrong with shimming the neck if done right. This has been a common practice for years and not with just floyds. You know back in the olden days when floyds first came out, that was the only way to float them without a router. Nobody recessed them back then. Many people will tell you that they can tell, etc. I would bet if done properly, doing a side by side comparison 99.9% wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

I have an 87 Kramer Pacer and I have the floyd floating and the neck is shimmed. That guitar is as fat and full sounding as any guitar I have. Including my Gibsons with a hard tail. So I wouldn't shy away from a guitar that was shimmed. As a matter of fact, I had a Peavey wolfgang that was shimmed from the factory.

And, I am sure the Mexican factory is making nice guitars. If it was made in Japan, I wouldn't want one, but I have an original 80's Floyd waiting to go into one of these!!
Just curious about this. Is the QC of the modern MIJ EVHs, Charvels and Fenders not up to par? I haven't played one in years but in the 90s the MIJ Fenders were much better than the MIM versions. The hardware and electronics on these is pretty good for that price point so as long as the fit and finish is okay I'd wouldn't hesitate. I'd expect the new Pro Mods to be of similar quality.
My San Dimas style (MiJ) plays as nice as my USA San Dimas..so nice that I sold my USA to a friend locally. IMO the best bang for the buck out there and it's not close..especially used when you can get one for 4-600....
