This was posted by a new EVH Bumblebee owner - check out the cool details. To me, it looks like these guitars are like Peavey USA Wolf Specials, with nicer bodies, bigger frets, and stripes!

http://document5.com/evh.html

That looks really nice, especially the frets. I don't see a "made in germany" stamp on that floyd though so I'm guessing it's Korean. But at that price who cares.

Exactly. Looks like the Floyd has a German brass block, which is like a Floyd Upgrade to me!

PS - The guy who took all those photos posted that out of the box, the Floyd was floating, and the action was way high, so a setup may be needed on these!

So I'm that guy Andy's referring to. Thanks Andy for bringing the pics over from The Gear Page!

The Floyd was floating, but leaning way back to where it touched the body on the back end. I don't think I took a pic of mine before I fixed it, but here's another one where you can see what I'm talking about...

Man, that does look to be a little on the "cheese grater" side in terms of string height. The neck pocket isn't angled is it? BTW, the bumble bee looks better than the red one to me...

Ha, welcome to Rig Talk Matt!

I see the neck is two pieces - with a separate fretboard. Is that bad, or normal for most guitars?

Normal these days.

I'm already thinking a Dimarzio super distortion, or Duncan Custom may sound better than a Wolfgang pickup (from my memory of what my Peavey Wolfgang's sounded like)!

The PV and EVH pickups sound noticeably different to my ears.

Different, meaning...? EVH more open, less honky?

I would give the wolfgang pick ups a shot. I've got one in my Franky replica and a set in my SG. Needless to say, I like them.

I'd love a bumblee or white black but I have so many guitars already. No way I can justify this even if it were $5.

Pretty much. The EVH Wolfgangs I played were hot but didn't
sound as hot and sizzly as most of the PV's I've played. More open
sounding too.

Ordered me a white one because it looks just like the Franky on VH 1 - and it has my initials in the tape - AK. The red one is more like the 5150 Kramer.

Congrats! We will expect a full review. :gethim: :D

Thought about it. Can't do it with a 2-piece maple neck. Want my one-piecer and a skunk stripe. Will probably wait for the new Pro Mods.

I thought about that. It's like any 2-piece maple neck with a separate rosewood fret board - or ebony - except it's maple!

Yeah, and a video of me NOT doing Eruption or any tapping!

The evh does have a 1-piece maple neck as in cut from the same piece of wood. Outside of original '50s Fenders, I don't know of too many maple boarded necks that don't have a glued on finger board. I would think that the charvel has the exact same construction as the evh. The skunk stripe is usually an aesthetic touch...

I dunno man... all of my 21 fret Charvel Custom Shop guitars are solid 1-piece birdseye maple with no glued on finger board. I have 4 of them (one is plain maple - not birdseye), all made since 2006...

The non-pointys in the front and the spiral checkerboard star are all 21 fret and solid 1-piece:

All the necks look like this:

All the 22 fret Charvel Custom Shops I have that are all maple have glued on finger boards though...

I think any 22 fret neck you get from Charvel/Fender is gonna be 2-piece (glued on finger board), skunk stripe or not - just seems to be the way they do it...
