I think most cars can charge on 110v but it takes forever. You’ll need a home charging station installed too.
BasedYou've never seen anyone with a fuel dispenser at home? You can get 300-500 gallon units for about the same price as a basic charging station. I don't need a master electrician to install the fuel tank. And I can buy fuel when it's cheap and save money while the EV charging station is subject to the whims of the electric company and gov't interference. Add wood heat and a clothesline to dry your clothes and we are talking cheap country living brother.
They just have to hope they have enough money to buy a new battery when it dies in 10 yrs and that it doesn't set aflame while driving or parked.
You have so much faith in technology. You trade in before the battery warranty is up. Everyone know this ?
Same issue if you own a gas vehicle past the warranty, Engine, or trans failure will put you in the same financial pickle.
These excuses are time limited. Every aspect of EV is getting better each year.
Also there's lithium battery chemistry that lasts 10x longer, and does not burst into flames. LiFePO4 chemistry. It has a little bit lower energy density,
but is very safe, and has a much higher cycle life. EV's are starting to use this.
I use LiFePO4 Batteries in my solar energy storage system.

That's cool, I appreciate that. Most people don't have the wherewithal to do their own electric. I make my kid do mine. But I already use a clothes line to dry my clothes. I've calculated my savings at around $2 per large load of clothes dried which works out to about 40 bucks a month. 30 amp means that puppy is sucking juice like a thirsty beast. NO THANK YOU SIR! I am trying to cut my electric consumption, and even did so in spite of the very hot summer, so I think I will wire my shed to run a welder before I spend money on the station, the car, and the power bill! You don't need a master electrician to install a charging station. Install a 30 amp double pole breaker in your panel, run 10awg wire to basically a 30a dryer plug. Done dude.

My house is always "a couple of degrees warmer", lol. More like 10! I have one large window unit and that's it. When it breaks I don't need to call a repairman I just throw it in the recycle and grab another one and install it myself. Like I said, cheap country living. My largest electric bill this year was $146Air conditioning is a much larger “draw on the grid” than electric cars will ever be IMO. If everyone kept their houses a couple degrees warmer, we’d be looking at a completely different picture
And it goes what, 200 miles on a fill? This is Texas, my power bill would easily exceed $300-400 a month with three EV's. And how am I supposed to afford the EV's and charger(s) on top of it? Furthermore show me an EV that has off road capabilities. It's a requirement for any vehicle I own to have ground clearance enough to ford a few feet of water and have selectable 4wd. It just doesn't make sense to me to go electric.I got ya.
BTW you can do the math. If a EV has a 70kw battery, and your electic rate is $0.13 per kwh that's 70 * 0.13 = $9.1 to fill up.
Find me a gas car that fills up for $9.1 (that's not a 1980 honda civic)

I'm actually considering a move to an area where I can get a creek with elevation so I can arrange my own hydro setup and water filtering on site. I just don't want any utility bills or recurring payments anymore. I can live without internet, or maybe just use the phone for critical stuff.
I dig rig talk A LOT but I grew up without internet so when the power is off I find myself quickly and easily reverting to the ways of my ancestors. I really only need to be able to order country living supplies online and that's about it. I could do it at a public library or just on a phone. Internet will not be a priority at my next place. I pay $110 a month, that's nuts.No more Rig Talk?!?!?!?![]()
I’m with ya man. I do have a couple portable AC units for when it gets real gross or when we are entertaining guests, but for the most part we just open windows and run fans.My house is always "a couple of degrees warmer", lol. Good luck charging you 70Kw car batteries with solar in all 4 seasons ???
My long game plan is a place way out in the hills with hydro and some solar/battery storage. I don't mind city life but cities are going haywire. Grid conveniences aren't reliable enough for me to count on them anymore. Wood heat/cookstove, hydroelectric power, spring fed or filtered creek water, propane cookstove, A nice sized garden and a hunting license. Have ammo, will eat. It probably will negatively affect my gigging but I do love simple and rugged country living and starry skies at night. You can DIY solar. You don't have to pay those ridiculous overpriced installers. Those companies give solar a bad wrap.
In Texas there has been a couple winters in my AO with 3 months of thick clouds. Of course the rest of the year is hot enough to melt your solar panels or at least ruin the storage batteries!Does the sun not come out in the winter where you live?
