Favorite Guitarist - pick only one

CANTRELL

Not the most shredtastic dude in rock, but IMO his tone is unmistakable and one of the best ever, and his writing skills are phenomenal. Word.

Brian May....tasteful player, inspired composer/writer....and manages to fuse a lot of a what I like about many rock/metal guitarists.

Is it weird that, as a guitarist, I don't have a favorite guitar player? I have favorite drummers, though. I mean there really aren't any guitarists out there that inspire me or who make me go, "damn I wish I could play like that guy!" But, when I hear a good drummer, my jaw drops and I get jealous.

Eric Johnson

When i watched him live in 1990 on the Ah Via Musicom tour i thought i was listening to God himself play guitar. I've never seen a live performance like that in person, or on tape.

EXACTLY!!

Paco De Lucia

Well now, that just changes the whole playing field...

Good call. McLaughlin's up there too, as is DiMeola. I'm still sticking with Mr. Zappa though...I liked his style 100% completely and utterly.

Gotta say though, your choice I did NOT see coming - good one!!
