Don't know that I agree with you. I just saw a documentary on the electric guitar about a week ago and it stated the Strat was by far the largest selling guitar in history.

A quick Google search also confirmed its the highest selling and most "famous" electric guitar. Here's just one example (scroll to #10 at bottom)....

Are you sure about that? I read on the Internet somewhere that the Ibanez Iceman was the most played guitar on the planet.

I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that people on RT don't like or play Strats, just because there are not a lot of threads about them. RT threads are typically skewed towards the flavour-of-the-month or currently (over) hyped new products. "Rlord1974"

Was definitely not jumping to a conclusion but making a very apparent observation. Never said people here don't like strats either in fact I see tons of posts talking about and selling buying super strats. Just not a whole lot of love in general here for the good ole Fender strat. I will take my superstrats any day over any of my Fender strats it's just what I prefer and I actually have some really nice USA strats. Again I was just pointing out what the norm seems to be on RT. Now on TGP it seems more traditional instruments like Les Pauls and Strats and high end customs. Then we have HC where it seems to be mostly sub 1k guitars. IMHO that is my take on what I see.

Anyone ever notice there is not much love of the Fender Strat here?......not even many stock strats posted in the classifieds.

I consider a "Strat" to be a Fender Stratocaster. A "super Strat" or strat-shaped body by another manufacturer is simply a derivative of the Fender Strat - in some cases, an (arguable) improvement on the original (e.g., TA, Suhr, etc.), and in others a step down (e.g., dozens of low-priced, fly-by-night brands). I personally wouldn't refer to any of these derivatives as being a "Strat".......

But that's just me!

I love my American Deluxe strat. I don't really care for vintage spec strats either. The new American Deluxes have a 10 - 16" fretboard radius that feels awesome. I really like the new N3 Noiseless pickups. However, I replaced mine because I wanted a humbucker in the bridge. I put a Lindy Fralin Blues Special in the neck and middle and an Andy Timmons signature AT-1 in the bridge. I also replaced the pickguard with a Warmoth white pearl pickguard, and replaced all the electronics. I used RS Guitarworks CTS Superpots, Orange Drop caps, and cloth push-back wire. This guitar is now perfect for me. I put the N3 Noiseless pickguard in my American Standard strat.

I'm a fan of the flat, 9.5 radius personally. I guess after 20 years, I'm just used to it.

I have a basic Am Std Strat. A 50th Anni actually. Yes I did change the pups. I love that guitar. I think the Strat is quite possibly the best all around guitar ever designed. Unfortunately the custom shop has lost it's mind price-wise.

Actually it seems there is a lot of Strat love around here! I have to say, I have not found a Strat that I have bonded with yet, have owned several and when trade time comes up, its the first to go. I am planning on putting together a couple of Gilmour inspired Strats, have to find the perfect ones and they WILL be keepers!
