Your tone has always been pretty processed and wet so this clip's tone is no surprise. I'm going with what Telephant said, I want it to sound as good as a vintage amp just by going guitar>cable>amp>cab with no effects. I my experience with it, it was lacking recorded direct without effects.

I got the thing Monday. I thought I'd post a clip with a backing track, I had the Miracle Man bt for my lessons. I setup the original on another track and tried to match the original guitar tone, then removed the original. This wasn't a "look how close this thing comes to a real dry amp....."
This thing might just be a cool tool to do direct recording and make it believable, I know the FX are great and it may wind up in my live rig as my FX engine with my OD100se+. I still have a lot more experimenting to do and my time is limited.

I will mess around with it a whole lot more.

You need to listen to Dweezel Zappa's Eruption for that SL brown tone.......scary close :scared:

Shit, you only had it for 2 or 3 days? That's awesome!!

Cool. Would sell me on the Axe Fx for the recording of clips if I hadn't heard so many surprisingly great clips with PODxTs.

I know one thing - AxeFXs and other non-tube solutions are great for clips since so many of us do not have what it takes in terms of the proper studio, the proper mics & placement, proper preamps, proper etc... to make great clips of tube amps (certainly I don't).

Very cool, Mark. Sounds like you.
I'm fighting the irrational GAS for the Axe FX- in my current bands, I don't use fx (outside of a wah), don't write or record anything nor have any kind of home studio. And yet I still want one!

I wonder if the AxeFX can do the full on broootalZ. Seems like the Axe does the 80s sleaze in spades, but how does it do with the wugga wugga stuff?

Yes. It can.

Who will be the one to make an AXE FX sound like a straight up Superlead, Tweed Deluxe, Hiwatt DR, or countless amps that keep that shit real.
Dude - you heard my VH clip. There were no efx on it. It was just pure Super Lead tone... You seemed to think it sounded real good when I posted it last...

Mark, for shits and giggles, Id love to see you dial in your Custom Audio sound and pair them side by side.

Way too wet. Who will be the one to make an AXE FX sound like a straight up Superlead, Tweed Deluxe, Hiwatt DR, or countless amps that keep that shit real.

Congrats, you've nailed 80's processed tone with a modeler. Im unimpressed.
Really? Keeping the shit real? Come now Shea, lets not get all gorilla dust here. Lets talk about keeping shit real when you been around the block long enough to have seen the "real shit" come in and out of vogue a few times.

I'll have to agree with Shea on this one :scared:

The tone is great for what it is (was in the 80's) and great if you like that super wet tone... But if you listen closely, the distortion by itself isn't that impressive. But overall I think you did capture "that" sound for sure.

But I don't think that tone says anything great about AxeFX. :scared:

See I disagree about your last line.

A 2u box replaced Zakk's entire studio take with Marshalls dimed and all kinds of post mastering. Like that tone or not the axefx nailed that tone in a package you could bring with you while commuting on a bike.
