Man that really sounds great. I've owned both the FM3 and the IRX and I couldn't get tones anything like what you're getting here. I've since realized that my tuning (B standard) and my pickups (BKP Warpigs or Aftermaths) were just too hot and low end heavy for the digital realm, and that these devices are much less forgiving than regular amps when it comes to the quality of the guitar signal. I've since retooled these things and am getting much better results with the plugins, but now you're making me want to go back and give these two a shot again! What pickups are you using with each guitar?

Thanks! It's about stacking the OD's to get the (IR X) Plexi ch into this territory. The Tumnus into the front helps a lot! If your in a B tuning I assume your playing modern metal (?) and ch 2 would be more for you?
For the FM 3 it's really finding an IR that works for you. I abhor sampling dozens and dozens of IR's. This is just a factory Marshall/greenback cab

Sounds great. I've never had the CLR, but I got an EV PXM-12MP for my FM9 several months ago, and I'm amazed at what a difference the right speaker makes.

With Dynacabs now on the Fractal stuff, it is so much easier to get exactly the tone you want for your monitoring. I haven't needed to sort through any IRs anymore. Pick the dyna-cab and adjust the mic to your liking. Simple as that.

I have had mixed results with the Dyna's -more clear for sure but a bit more thin. So far not that much better to trade off the thin factor despite moving the mic out more

You probably have done some of these things Bud as you are not a stranger to the Fractal stuff.
For me what I have found with the dynacabs is that I run 2 ribbon mics. The regular 57/121 is not my favourite in this case as we are dealing with a virtual cab and not the real thing. I've found the 2 ribbon mics to give me the beef I need for FOH without moving into the bass player's territory.
Also, with the "Cab More" tab, I have pulled down some of that high end and put my low cut at 120hz.
Aligning the cabs a bit more with the align tab has also made a small difference.
I'm monitoring on stage with either 1 or 2 EV-PXMs which are the first monitor that I have actually really enjoyed using live! I pull a very slight bit of high end out of them with the DSP built into the units.

What I would say is, shut off the boost (Tumnus). At least as they sound through the compression of youtube, all of your clips the boost is the most prominent part of the tone. It makes it narrow and nasally. As an example, when you went from "Soldano to Plexi" it sounds incredibly similar, through youtube compression and into the headset at my desk. I would hope that they sound further apart in the room with you.

Good to know and I never would have tried that. Never used a real ribbon mic. The 121 and ribbon combo seemed to be the go to default set up.
