FMIC Charvel guys: Custom Shop v. "Master Built"?

Official word from Charvel is that some guitars are masterbuilt by hand by a single person and other custom shop guitars are team built in the factory.

Sure, but the "team" is only three guys - Mike, Pat and Red Dave...

Apparently the guy I talked to this morning misspoke (he was thinking of the Fender shop). Apparently on the Charvel side, if it's a "custom shop" it is "master built," though they apparently don't keep records of who the builder was.

I know. If only folks around here knew what they were talking about! Thanks guys. Still not sure if being a Charvel masterbuilt is equivalent to being a Fender masterbuilt, but I'm getting closer to pulling the trigger so I guess I'll find out.

Lulz! If I ever had a Charvel question I wouldn't hesitate to ask Curt and Steve. As far as I am concerned, they are Red Dave and Mike Shannon incognito on this board.

Well, finally pulled the trigger on a Red Dave custom. Really hope it's a killer guitar.

Received the guitar today. Initial impression is that fit, finish, and playability of the guitar is every bit as nice as any Suhr, Anderson, or Tyler that over played.

Quick question for Charvel guys to the extent anyone's still paying attention to this thread: do Charvels use stainless steel frets by default? I've seen the guitar's built sheet and it doesn't say SS frets, but the guitar sure feels like it has SS frets. There's a "smoothness" and an almost slippery quality to every SS-fretted guitar I've played that this one has too.
