Tried both and found the voicing of the DS very cool. BE has more gain but sounds a little bit more sterile to me.
Anyone using the BE as a Blues amp?
Alternative would be a Marshall JVM. What would be your choice for a versatile amp that is mainly used for Blues?

I would go for the DS for blues. The DS can really cover anything. I mean the BE can do it too, but if you're mainly going for blues I think the DS would be a better fit.

Yeah they are just different flavors - the DS being more loose and the BE being a more tight. The BE will fight you more.

I think the problem here is that Bonamassa chose the DS for a reason. DS is a very good blues amp. The BE does the job too but maybe does sound a tad more sterile than the DS. But could be that i didn`t play long enough with the BE to find the sweet spot. Thanks a lot for answering!

I used the Marsha as a blues amp and it did a great job. The BE is supposedly the same voicing, but I've never tried one.

If all you want to do is blues and classic rock, I would agree that the DS is the better choice.
That said, Joe didn't even use his...even when it was in his back line it wasn't hooked up.
People would be shocked to know what he was really using during that tour (I think I may have posted it somewhere here in the past).

Wasn't he using DSL40C's mostly?

Love my BE100 and would use it for just about any genre, but specifically for blues, DS is king.

What? Why would he use a DSL40C when he can use a DS? First time i attended a JB concert he used a JVM and a TSL but only the clean channel. Everything else he got through his pedalboard.

Thanks all together for chiming in!

Yeah man. I finally got my DS up to "proper volume" and eff ME of it can't do some thrash! I was surprised. Bottom end wasn't super tight but with my PRS SC245 it sounded need killer! Gonna dial the gain back a hair and hit it with a RAT and that Dirty ho gon' SCREAM!

BE has tons more ass if that's needed. I had both sold them and got the Wildwood Edition Smallbox. The first channel (plexi) is what I wished the BE had plus the adjustable volume for the boost is very nice

If your just doing blues blues/rock and use guitar volume DS will do just fine. I had the combo great grab and go amp

I say BE all the way can do it and more....the wildwood pt-20 is the bomb though...also have a dsl40c , great amp...

He was using DSLs and a tube screamer for the most part...the vintage Marshalls, Trainwreck, and Friedman weren't even hooked up...just back line eye candy. The Marshalls were stashed behind his back line. I saw this myself...it's not hearsay.
