I know you are a big fan of the Sig:x, but I just couldn’t get into it. Maybe I should try it again?
I went through the whole pittbull lineup before arriving at the UL, and still tried the Sig-X and then a Deliverance. I REALLY didn't dig the Sig-X. I suspect if you didn't like it the first time, you won't like it now. But I'm basing that on my dislike of the amp.

Danzig, Megadeth, Anthrax, Deftones, Mudvayne, Slipknot, Steve Vai, Volbeat have all toured with Fryette stuff. Not bad for a company that doesn't give their stuff away, aka Marshall, Randall, Krank...
Saw a Danzig concert on MTV years ago.. Guys tone was great and noticed his amp said VHT on it. That is what led me to the UL.

I dont know if it's been said but if he isnt gonna release a standard head version, then he should have just released it as something else and not try to advertise it as the "Ultra Lead II".
Call it a "new product with some familiar features", The "UltraRack" or something.

People have been waiting years for specific thing that he's been teasing and he kinda does a total 180 from that, which is gonna put people off. Maybe it is cool, but its not the same and not what we wanted or were promised.

And be real....any touring musicians that want small and light weight rack units are just gonna get an axefx or a quad cortex and call it a day. Especially for the price point

This is a cool step forward tho.. I bet the things he learned when making the Synergy Modules made it into this.
It has MIDI! Huge fan of this because you can program and save. Are the knobs analog or detented controllers??
The Ad says it's smoother which means it's probably more compressed., less hairy. I don't see the Dual Gain Knobs, so it's a traditional setup which is easier.

THe SigX is smoother and a bit more compressed compared to my OG Deliverance which is decidedly more lively and revealing. You might not tell the difference on a recording because of the fuckery you can do.
I suspect this difference is what you might expect between the UL1 and 2. I could be wrong..

* A 1:1 reissue would be $7k, and I agree with him that nobody would ever buy that
If I had to pay $7k to plug into something that dry, I’d rather just go to the nearest camel escort service and have my way. Now, where’s the nearest Mosque?

Hopefully you’re not talking about the Mother video which is not live music. I don’t remember any pro shot footage of Danzig from the 90’s with John Christ that was on TV. Don’t get me wrong would love to see it.

I like the form factor. i didn't read through all yet. Is this a Digital/Analog Hybrid Amp?
Yep. When I first saw it I was hoping for digitally-confrolled analog, but not the case.

The graphic for example is conceptually the same as sticking a digital EQ pedal in the loop. Probably sounds fine, but it does mean we’re not in Kansas anymore.

I wish all my amps were rackmount. It would save a ton of space.
I have always been attracted to the rackmount look. When i found out it was a very innefficient situation for servicing it and that the transformers and circuit would have to be altered, i lost interest. But the rackmount situation does look very cool

Mesa 2:90 is two rack space with 8 6L6s and 3 AX7s. It has a fan, but I've never had any overheating problems. Fryette 2/90/2 has 4 KT88s and 4 small bottles, so I'd guess he has some experience with heat dissipation. I don't have the Fryette, but I also have a Peavey Stereo Classic 50/50, also 2-space with 8 EL84s and 4 small bottles. With a fan, but I ran this thing hard for years without a heat problem.

Love the rack form-factor, just wish he'd named this something else. It's not what I think of when I think Ultralead.

I'm all for digital tech, too, but I prefer mine in a separate box.

Where were you promised an UL RI?

Up to thi point there was not a lightweight rackmount tube UL to be a tour option. Now that there will be and if it sounds killer, that may change.

No it was some special on MTV…like a NYE or something like that. They played maybe half hour.
