The market was one person, the guy from Helmut.I am the biggest single channel simple circuit proponent that I know, and if he made a single channel Ultra without a bunch of digital junk and an all analogue path, I would probably be in line to buy the damn thing.
If I were a simple path guy and was building amps, why would I then go to a digital rack? To give the market what it wants? Why not give the market what it is asking from you? I wish we could see how many sells he gets off this. I wish him the best. But it is the opposite direction I think any fans of his amp line would want.
Another video on a different channel. Mostly the same info, but said differently.
Two things of interest: One, Steve explicitly says he wasn't trying to give the players what they say they want, but what he thinks will enable the current gigging/touring musicians. Two, he mentions the 7k price point again, but here it seems like he might have meant that if he made the UL II the old way but still with all the new features then it would have been a 7k amp. Not that a 1:1 remake would have been 7k.
Yes I feel kind of bad. But also, not.It almost seems like a bunch of people have bitched about this to him, because he seems apologistic and to be making the excuse for why he made this this way the whole time...Poor guy
It is odd to introduce an amp that way, telling people why he didn't make what they wanted, or what his reason for this was-instead of just introducing the amp like it is something good
No, those ULs were merely questioning their gender. This ULII is the first all out trans modelAre you insinuating that ULs after 1992 were nonbinary or Trans?

Great!Funny, I didn’t, hence played my UL through a Marshall cab.
Let me guess:Steve would NOT be happy about this joke
I had both…the early one sucked. My 98 kicked ass.To me an OG UL is a 1992 model. By the mid-late 90’s they got a little more tame. Less balls, not as raunchy, the usual adjectives apply here.
The 98 sounded….fineI had both…the early one sucked. My 98 kicked ass.
But his mission objective was literally the opposite. Designed for the touring musician.Vht/Fryette is one of those brands no touring bands ever play. You literally never see them. Its more of a gear nerd brand, probably why he took this path.
There’s nothing more pathetic than an amp company with an arrogant owner that, despite being around decade after decade, has to cling onto a single, or in VHT’s case a scant few, relatively minor league professional users. It’s almost as if, even though they’re good amps, pros avoid them on purpose as if word gets around or something.Vht/Fryette is one of those brands no touring bands ever play. Hard to say but I think Pro’s like to have good support and availability of product when they’re on tour. There’s nothing more pathetic than an amp company with an arrogant owner that, despite being around decade after decade, has to cling onto a single, or in VHT’s case, a scant few, relatively minor league professional users. You got game? The 98 sounded….fine
Not just any game, thegameYou got game?
Danzig, Megadeth, Anthrax, Deftones, Mudvayne, Slipknot, Steve Vai, Volbeat have all toured with Fryette stuff. Not bad for a company that doesn't give their stuff away, aka Marshall, Randall, Krank...There’s nothing more pathetic than an amp company with an arrogant owner that, despite being around decade after decade, has to cling onto a single, or in VHT’s case a scant few, relatively minor league professional users. Half of those artists were only using 2150 power amps driven by other companies preamps.Danzig, Megadeth, Anthrax, Deftones, Mudvayne, Slipknot, Steve Vai, Volbeat have all toured with Fryette stuff. Not bad for a company that doesn't give their stuff away, aka Marshall, Randall, Krank...
Only Megadeth, rest used amps. If you're gonna make claims at least get your facts straight.Half of those artists were only using 2150 power amps driven by other companies preamps.
