My bet is Leonardo Polito. He already designed the Diezel VHX, the soldano Astroverb
and is also responsible fpr the Soldano X88IR (at least editor)

Is he affiliated with Fractal? I don't think so, he is a freelancer from Italy, but thats only a guess, so I don't know

No definetly not me! I would have not claimed zero latency IR, as those are impossible since latency comes from converter. All IR are zero latency already with known algorithm and after a minimum phase transform.

I'm affiliated with Synergy (Soldano, Friedman, ToneKing etc..) and Diezel.

Blug, Fryette, and Joe did a live-stream where some more details were mentioned. If I understand correctly, the unit shown at NAMM was not playable.
So it’s still just an idea/design, but there are no working unit’s? Yeah, it may be years before we actually see/hear one.

Guys, don't be so oldschool. Mr. Fryette comes up with a nice compact format of a legendary product and almost everyone complaints about it.
I say:
a. The UL has always been a hell of an amp. Let's see how this one sounds.
b. Fryette has tons of great products, why don't we trust him?
c. 2:90:2 was a small poweramp and one of the best. PS-2/PS-100 and LX are even smaller. Let's hear if Fryette manages to pull off the sound of one channel of the 2:90:2 with a different shaped OT and a switching PS.

I can see doubts in the digital section.
However:
Modern converters are really fast. <1 ms per direction. EQ can be done within a single computing cycle.
The IR output should not matter as it goes to the FOH and is most likely a parallel tap after the power amp.
And swapping the old GEQ which was not a tube EQ for a digital unit is worth a try.
I am confident, you may move it fully out the signal path. Why not? Any decent pedal can do a bypass.
And adding it in with individual settings per channel could be a real benefit.
Let's be honest: there are great sounding digital EQs and the FOH signal will pass through a digital console, too.
Don't want a display? I am sure the developer could make "dark mode". I prefer to see some details ...

And finally:
What's wrong with the format?
Isn't it cool to have a Pittbull in two rack units? Grab it, pack it up.
Tons of artists are using Class D amps today. Saving space while traveling saves costs and sometimes makes a gig happen or not.
And this is a tube amp from the master of power amps! So let's be curious.

And what I find real great:
Add the LX and you have a 2x100 stereo setup in three rack units. Or a full dry/wet/wet system.
Add a Syn-2 and you have 7 channels!

You do not have to purchase a black box. Fryette is old through resellers. You can try first!
And if you prefer it the old way, wait for the old unit to pop up used.
Or a GP3 with a 2:90:2.

Personally, I am excited to give the new UL a closer look.

And don't get me wrong finally:
This is an expensive amp, so I expect the new UL to sound as good as my old unit. If it does: Mission completed

March 2028.... if history holds true
What is your interest level in this thing? I know that you had an actual ultra lead and that was a great sounding amp. I feel like if you had that voicing with a modern punch of some of the heavy hitters, it would have been elite.

Very cool, we look forward to you attempting to get it repaired in 10 years when it most assuredly is still in service in your rig (if it sounds as good as the old one)

I can't imagine having a booth at namm and people coming up to try your amp. "Well, it doesn't work yet; But I can tell you about how it would work....if it worked."

Maybe the unit displayed at NAMM is just the heavily redacted version. You know, show just enough to get some salivating at it yet not enough to really do anything

I mean I’m guilty of bringing everyone along while developing new amp features, but at least I’m transparent in developing what people and other anonymous businesses demand. I’m also only a single person, there’s a huge difference IMO.

I doubted you for awhile and thought you were arrogant and full of shit.

Then you posted a clip. Talk is cheap. But your amp needs to be in my guitar room.

What we need is amp fest with yourself and @RedB4Black so that I can show up and let Abaddon introduce itself in person. Recordings are just not going to do anything of what I’ve designed justice. I’ve posted them and it still pales in comparison to what you feel when you play.

Regarding the OP topic, I really don’t like the digital conversion of the analog signal. At that point just go to ToneX or synergy.

Technically Headfirst is doing the same thing with his new rack preamp but it’s intended to add all of the necessary IR’s to make a rack preamp sound more full and proper - it’s just a preamp.

Dude. I can fucking tell how special that amp is. Trust me. I can't wait to feel it. But yes. Please Please bring that beast down. Let's noon that master and see if we can blow up one of @RedB4Black 's cabs
