Fryette Pittbull Ultralead II

Gotcha! The effects loop probably makes a difference too. I haven’t tried the Deliverance II.
You know, honestly I can think about your saying that Deliverance is more aggressive and that makes sense. The ultralead isn't what I would call smooth. But it has such a great voicing and is just a really fun easy amp to play. I think if you could give it the punch of a wizard with that voicing, it would be an instant classic

To me, the deliverance blew the pitbull module out of the water, and I feel like the ultra lead is a much better amp than the deliverance. What i noticed is synergy sounds great...as long as you don't a/b with a real amp
Hmm. I prefer the UL to the Deliverance easily and have my 2 Syn2s + KSR PA100R on an amp switcher with 7 heads that I can switch at will and it absolutely slays and easily smokes some of the amps in direct A/Bs with certain modules… To the point where I am considering tearing it all apart and liquidating everything but the Synergy setup and two heads. So I guess our tastes are real different.

On topic: I think this Pitbull looks amazing. It is only $800 more than the deliverance and looks like it has some cool forward thinking features. I like it, it looks really neat.

I believe it. Maybe the poweramp pairs better with it than the synergy, or possibly the increased wattage helps.

The synergy modules sounded great, especially the pitbull and killer kali. So maybe all they needed was a better/more powerful amp. I would be willing to try it that way.

Just some old pics I found. Should’ve kept it all.

How would you compare the UL and Deliverance Synergy modules?

I know you are a big fan of the Sig:x, but I just couldn’t get into it. Maybe I should try it again?
Mine was one of the ones that had the voice changed similar to the Deliverance voice change that happened around 2010. I believe there is only four of them. It had the bass changed in the poweramp at the same time. So its the only one. Fryette did the work.
Just before covid I had some other small changes done so the power amp reacts more like the Deliverance 120. Andy Marshall did the work.
Nothing major. Just voiced more to my preferences.

I had both deliverances and an UL at the same time for a good 6 months. The original deliverance the one with the choke was the better sounding of all 3 imo just had a better tone and feel to it over the others. The UL to me was super uninspiring to play from the clean to high gain just sounded very flat and tight. Definitely not my thing.

Yeah you’re right. You’ve totally convince me. I actually like the idea of a tiny little screen that will supersede and probably break and that is too small to read and will probably need to be looked at from the right angle and means I have to open menus to make changes.

Also cool that we aren’t using KT88s anymore and that is in rack format which I don’t use. Will definitely be easier for repairs with everything crammed in small form factor too.

Thanks Steve. I should just have trusted you to know better because you are smart and I am dumb.
There could be a lot of truth in your last sentence. :ROFLMAO:

I think steve knows who he is making this amp for. I also think that we are not that "who"

I hear this kind of argument and often make it myself, but in this case, while the tech inside the amp might, might be truly great, dude that amp has the cool factor of an orthopedic shoe. It's so weirdly plain and forgettable that, knowing Steve, was very likely a conscious choice he made specifically to piss people off so after they complained he could turn around and throw their "shallowness" back in their faces.

And it's extra disappointing because unlike 90% of boutique amps which usually look like new guts put in a classic Plexi headshell format, the old Ultra Lead head was actually one of the meanest looking amps ever made.

People can talk about how only the tone matters, but looks aren't nothing. Cool looking shit can can inspire, lame looking shit can suck inspiration out of the room. IMO the new Ultra Lead does the latter.

Also let's not discount how a lot of guitar players simply don't like analog tube circuits being combined in the same unit with LED screens and digital processing.
We all could argue and pick apart anything from many differing angles. If the product doesn't deliver for the end user, it won't matter how awesome it looks, people won't buy or use it. While some gear can look better than other similar pieces I have never not purchased or used something on looks. While it would be awesome for every piece of gear to look bad ass, the truth is it simply doesn't. I have also never looked at an amp or a pedal and said wow, you look so awesome you inspire me to make some cool riffs. On the flip side, I have never plugged into something "ugly" and lost my ability to create. Do looks matter? Sure, on a small level (at least to me) but I would never take looks over desired sound, functionality, etc. People like what they like and I get that but to dog a product without playing it is comical to me. YMMV

25lbs …. If it sounds great and has the headroom I think there is a market for it. It’s the gigging musicians that is ok with spending a lot on a lightweight option that has tubes. I don’t think he should have called it the Ultralead II though just my opinion, if he named it something else nobody would be upset. He could have still released a full size Ultralead fur the guys that want that.

Anyone going to buy one ?

I’m gonna be honest. Got a buddy on here that’s recommended guitars/amps to me for years, and he’s always been right.

I have a lot of great stuff here, and the one thing I’ve never tried but always wanted to was UL.

I’m pretty over the whole IR/recording thing these days and don’t really have a use for those features, but they’re always nice to have. I’m blown away at how much cool shit he puts into this stuff; I had a lot of fun with my GPDR(?).

If it sounds good, I’ll prob end up snagging one just to not have anything out there I want to try anymore lol

Side note: can people not play guitar at NAMM anymore? Kind of shocked there aren’t any demos out yet, and that he didn’t play a note in the vid…

I would play an OG ultralead. Those things are special.
