Someone always comes in a thread and bashes. I never do, so decided to give it a shot. Not as exciting as anticipated.

Really, the VHT line is not carried in the music stores I go to in ATL. I have heard so much good about them, I definitely will take a ride on a Sig X if one shows up used. Sounds like a nice blend of channel voicings.

And yes danyeo you are correct the sig x and the clx and uL are certainly dry although some VHT fanboys do question this notion stating they "don't get it". It takes some getting used to and the first time you play a Fryette you can't help but notice how dry it is. I've come to love the feel, tone, and dynamic response of Fryettes not to mention the UNREAL note separation in chords even at the highest gain levels. I can also see why many don't like them. You can juice them up with a boost but I prefer the UL as it is. Lots and lots of gain but yes dry   Not for soft pickers you really have to pound on your guitar to get the most out of the gain. Most dynamic amps I've played. And then you have the killer Fryette power sections, what's not to love (well the dryness for some).

I got a Sig X this spring and it is still blowing me away every day I plug into it. It is a VERY touch sensitive amp and articulate as hell. I don't get the dry thing at all but that's just me. Agreed it is a beast of an amp and easily as good as anything I have ever owned or played thru. Definitely covers a lot of ground and it covers it all very, very well. Build quality is excellent and it looks cool too. I have yet to play any Fryette stuff I didn't love though so I would consider myself a fan.

I've only had mine for a week, but I definitely agree with the previous two posts. At first, I was a bit in shock with how tight and dry it was compared to my Mesa, but I really love it more every time I turn it on. The tone is just unreal. Now, I don't think the VHT is dry, I think the Mesa is sloppy. We'll see how I feel in a couple months, but so far I like it more every day. And it sounds really good under the mic.

I had a UL years ago, would alternate the VHTUL with a Mesa IIC+ when I was playing shows. They both had things I liked. The IIC+ ruled for leads like no other amp, the UL was just a sledgehammer on stage with the band, very full but it could get woofy if tweaked a certain way. But my UL hated V30's and sounded great on Greenbacks, I also boosted it with a Tube Screamer.

Funny but the Offspring uses VHT's and Mesa Mark IV's/ Yes, I call them VHT's because easy for me to spell right. :D

Ya what'shisface used a VHT UL/ mark IV for a stereo rig right?? I remember seeing that pic years ago In a guitar world magazine or something. To me the IV and UL are similar beasts tonally and feelwise. The mark IV being like a very wet less brutal version of the UL ... They hit similar frequencies and are close feelwise for sure. The UL demolishes the markiv for huge tight big in your race thump though by a longshot.

Yes, the UL will sound bigger. But the Mesa Mark's have a lot of gain and an almost nasal character, like a cocked wah that works great for leads.

I'm running greenbacks in a splawn slant cab with the Ultra Lead. Just switched out the regular greenbacks last night which were very well broken in (25 watt made in England, I suppose before they switched to china) for 4 of the EVH greenbacks that must need some breaking in cause they don't sound right. Greenbacks + Ultra Lead = Killer!

I would say the Sig X & Deliverance are not as "dry" as the Pittbull's.... but they are Fryette/VHT/SFD so they are very focused / defined.

....a Fryette S.A.S. pedal can be used to make the sound less tight/dry/etc with any of the Fryette amps. GAIN~ set very low/BIAS & VOLUME ~set whatever...

Tried one two years ago (it was Philb's amp, when Mark Day organized a gearfeast in cornwall) and I was truely impressed.. GREAT amp

I would agree with everything you said. I don't have the SAS but I have a LOT of overdrive\boost pedals and they all work very nicely with the siggy. I run mine thru a couple G-flex cabs and they sound great with it, I have used it with the VHT cabs as well as a v30 cab and it sounded great with all. The Pitbull's on the other hand to me are very, very picky about what works with them.

I don't get why some people seem to love the deliverance but not the sig x as the rythm channel on the Sig can get very, very close to the Deliverance sound. I know the 120 has more glass and more bottom end but they imho are in the same are tonewise for sure.

what speakers are the best match for the VHT though ?

If I was starting from scratch I would go with the fryette deliverance cab for my sig x. Having said that to my ears it sounds absolutely amazing with the g-flex cabs, makes it a little warmer and fuller but not quite as tight and articulate like with the fryette cabs.

I'm still getting used to mine, but so far I like it best playing through Greenbacks

 I have a Deliverance 120 also ..... and agree it is very similar sounding to the RHYTHM channel of the Sig X. I can get either to sound similar to the other / But there are differences. The Deliverance 120 being more like a Bulldozer & the Sig X more like a Swiss Army Knife. Personally I like both about the same & use them depending on what my needs & wants are at the time.

If I understand correct the Deliverance 60 & 120 / Sig X RHYTHM channel / Memphis DRIVE channel / GP3 RHYTHM channel ~ are all based on the GREEN/RHYTHM channel of the Pittbull's. The power section of these amps also make for a lot of the differences.

The LEAD & RHYTHM channel of the Sig X is based on the Pittbull. The clean channel is very different. The CHANNEL VOICING switches on the Sig X represent the different eras of the Pittbulls voicing.

It is not that simple.... different people have different taste & needs. Personally I like them with many different speakers. I use a combination or separate Celestion V30/ H30/Geenback most of the time. These are the speakers I prefer with most amps regardless of the builder. Also keep in mind the cab is as important as the speaker. It is easy to find people that hate or love any of the speakers that people use....

:D   :D

Sorry.......not trying to be a jerk. You guys rock. We all have opinions, and we are all right! Why? Because we all hear things differently and use things differently. Out of all the VHT and Fryette's I have tried, the SigX does me best! Now I feel like I have every tone I personally need covered - Bogner Shiva, PWE Event Horizon, Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier and when I get a Fryette I get so much more, even some Hiwatt goodness!

Gonna have to dissagree with you on this one, your post are interesting and I like reading them BUT as much as you go back and forth, changing your mind, opinions, and gear choices I'm not gonna take much stock in this opinion (I change my tastes and go back and forth also but don't always air it in public as you do   )

Like following a feather in the wind, not worth it.

Speakers you ask?
Bogner 212 with Vintage 30s
Stone Age with G12K-100s
Splawn 412 with Creambacks and Lynchbacks
THD 212 with THD Eminence speakers.

Really would like to hear my deliverance through some other speakers/cabs
