What i dont get about GL (and a lot of our heroes) is that they deny what made em legends.

I mean, Lynch was never a blues/classical/country guitar player. And he will never be. When he try to go that route he cant compete. Or when he starts doing shit with a lot of effects or playing without a pick.

BUT he can play hard rock like a mofo. He is up there with the best. So why, oh why, all the shitty stuff and the "im a late 60s guitar player"? I can understand the desire to go somewhere else in his artistic career but i also understand that fans think it sounds just bad.

About MORE of his sig gear... Well its pretty clear no one believes that he is actually going to use it. But then again, i have to admit he was loyal to ESP since the beginning.

Lynch has stated numerous times that he actually started out as a classical/blues player. Says he came from the "school of the 4 horsemen: Clapton, Beck, Page, and Hendrix". But that's not my point here.

To anyone that dislikes the new Lynchbox design on that Instagram photo, let me remind you again what the prototype was :D

Might want to look that word up.

Ha. "Shifted" is probably a more appropriate term. Just my opinion, but I haven't heard any "new" playing from Lynch since the Lynch Mob days - just the same patterns, phrases, shapes, etc over and over with a slightly different vibe to the rhythm. From the live videos I've watched of Lynch Mob's shows the past few years they've mostly been damn good, but as far as new material I haven't liked anything since the Lynch/Pilson album. SoW was decent, and the unoffical sequel "Kill All Control" wasn't bad at all (the singers did damn good if nothing else), but I despised most of his "solos" on those two albums.

Yeah, even after his 80's heyday of shred, he doesn't play anything I would consider classical or really bluesy. Still pulls out the shred licks and shoehorns it into his current writing. It seems that if he doesn't know what to play when he's noodling around, he busts out his ultimate fallback - the two-handed pick-tapping patterns and I immediately lose interest. Sorry, love his playing but it's sometimes painful to listen to now.

Ok shifted is a better choice of word then evolved. I'm a fan, I like and appreciate what he does.

I'm sure there's a little of that "trying to stay relevant" thing in past projects, but maybe he honestly was into that stuff at the time? I mean, my roots are '80s shred guys, but that's not the only thing I like. I thought Korn was amazing when they came out! It was fresh and heavy. I would hate to be tied down to having to play or listen to the exact same genre for my career, just because someone expected that from me! It's not like Dokken or Lynch Mob were exactly a hot commodity in the '90s. Plus, as mentioned, dude has to pay the bills and feed the family!

Choose what you love or love what you choose, Lynch is my all time favorite and influence, but I don't listen or like ALL his music, I rather go after what I can accept about he put out.

 Richie Kotzen has evolved as a musician. George Lynch...

Yah but does Richie do curls and a cycle of roids before every gig? Nooooooo :)

That amp looks ridiculous !!
Reminds me of a poser or wannabe!!

You could NEVER find a bigger Lynch fan than me, but he's burned me too many times with sub par "music" and soloing for me to give a shit anymore. Even his tones are not what they were...and maybe that's because the album budgets don't allow for a real producer and they settle...whatever...I can't stand him anymore.

Slightly on/off topic,

Lynch's new KXM project released a music video today. Notice that Randall Headhunter prototype cab far right? :D

2:20 is a decent shot of it

I'll be honest, if I'm keeping up with Lynch's stuff, I'm still a fan. Nothing will change how much he has influenced me as a guitar player. NOTHING. No matter how much I curse at his current music. If nothing else I applaud him for taking those musical risks. There likely isn't a lot of other pigeon-holed 80's guitar gods that try and do other genres or styles of music like Lynch has. It may not work every time, but I would rather see him trying other avenues of guitar oriented music than become a complete burnout and playing the same. old. shit. year. after. year.

LOVING the Kamikaze Star!
That's actually a sig model for Anchang, guitarist for Sex Machineguns from Japan.

I doubt that Lynch's artistic motivation to try new music is anything more than jumping on whatever trend is currently hip...it's all about the bottom line. For example, I would LOVE for him to put out a shred guitar album (like Shrapnel of old), but I don't think he'd do it because maybe it wouldn't $ell enough units to make him a lot of money...and I find it ironic that he's commented in the past that he didn't want to be part of the 80s revolving band member door syndrome, and here he is with Doug and Ray...like it or not, the music buying public is a fickle lot, and they want to hear Lynch of old...(at least the guitar players do). He's never come to terms with that.

Either George's style (tone/playing) have changed and I don't care for it or he's washed up; not sure which is the case but I haven't been a fan since Wicked Sensation.

Even if George wanted an amp voiced like a peavy rage with a head shell wrapped in dead coyotes, Mike still makes a motherfucker of an amp.
