It's always good to hear both sides of the story and I retract my emotionally charged statement made earlier in this thread. I'm usually one to say "there's 3 sides to every story," yet still responded negatively without knowing all the facts. Not taking sides even at this point, but it's obvious that something here is amiss.

Whatever the case may be, I hope this gets worked out to the benefit of all parties.

+1, same here.

Gil, either replace the guitar or I think you're a piece of shit!! It's that simple :gethim:

Here's my $00.02

That is a very ignorant comment, the guy has offered a perfectly reasonable solution. Either: full refund, new guitar or compensation plus repair. Either of these options are acceptable in my terms, the builder seems to be doing everying to help out Steve K.

Secondly, as soon as that guitar touched base in the US it was no longer Gill's responsibilty, no is he liable for anything that happens after that.

If the buyer, Steve K, undervailued the guitar to save on tax it is on his head that he can't file the claim for the full value.

Also, if Gill is aaying that he has shipped hndreds of guitarts and never had a break (the exact same boxing method) they why would he change what he is doing. Regardless of whats happened, its broken. Coudlnt it have been packed better? Maybe. Could the buyer invested in a better case? Maybe

Eitehr way whats done is done and as far as im concerned Gill has done a stand-up job and is being a class act. He has offered every solution to the customer, who has delcined all options. Then gone behind his back and dragged his name through the mud! Which is poor on Steve K's front.

I think alot of the comments on this thread are un-just and damm right rude!

Make me wonder of the type of people on here.

Im on Gills side, Steve K seems to be acting up.

Also, i dont think an extra cardboard box would have made any difference...

Wow... That sounds absolutely incredible. Exactly what I'd want a Les Paul to sound like. And you, Pete, are exactly the right kind of excellent player to do it justice... Congratulations - I know you'll make a ton of music with it...

On another note, I'm glad Gil dropped by and told his side. He's always been amazingly willing to help others and has posted the most amazing build threads answering any detailed questions thrown his way.

This thread shows why it's not a good idea to comment based on hearing only one side of the story, which we're all guilty of here because we all know Steve and are sympathetic to his situation based on what happened to the guitar and his account. There seems to be some major miscommunication here and some mistakes made on both sides based on hearing each tell their story, but I really hope both sides can come together and work this out. Any other result and further nastiness would be a real shame...

Steve

Thanks Steve, yes bottom line is the world is far from perfect but as you said, it should just be a case of both sides coming together and working it out, as opposed to any nastiness which in this case seems really unwarranted.

So, Gil, are you still offering Steve a full refund?

Miscommunication can be a terrible thing...

Not to mention the inappropriate anti-Jewish remarks (I am Jewish myself)!

PS--Could it be when the guitar with the Hebrew and English fragile warnings arrived in an Arab country, customs gave it an extra drop, to stick it to the Jews?

^The issue isn't if he's stealing from Gibson or making the best '59 LP clone; the issue is customer service. My guess is if I spent $10k on a Gibson guitar and it showed up on my doorstep looking like Steve's Yaron, I could call the dealer I bought it from, get an RMA and have another one in a couple of days. This motherfucker is selling $10k guitars, packing them like shit and then tells the customer to pound sand when it shows up busted?? He has got to be clearing at least $100k profit per year selling these things but he doesn't have the sense to pay for a repair or send him a new guitar?? I think anyone considering buying a guitar from this guy after knowing how Steve has been treated should have their head, dare I say soul examined   I am a huge supporter of Israel but fuck this motherfucker

I was going to type something but I couldn't have said it better myself.

Screw Gil Yaron, what a douchebag!

As far as I am concearned, he should be sending a brand new guitar and taking care of the issue! Or at least fixing it!

Its insane that Steve has to send this guitar elsewhere for repair!!!

Or it could be that the Hebrew can't pack for shit. And it arrived to an Arab country already broken...

P.S. I want to make myself clear, I don't care if the luthier is jewish or muslim or catholic or whatever. I think we are missing the point here.

And we are deviating from the issue, which is lame ass custom service. And the luthier not giving a crap about what happened!

Year that is what you think. That was posted by Gil after Steve was unable to get anything from him and had to send his guitar elsewhere.
How convinient that Gil arrives and makes all this promises.
Time will tell if is good for making a complete refund...

And when Gil says Steve demanded a new guitar so he could have 2 guitars?? Is he serious!?

No racial comments by me friend; I'm part Jewish. As an American, I support and think we as a country should stand by Israel. But screw this guy, no matter his country of origin, race or religion if what Steve said is true. Obviously new developments have come to light and I should have probably just kept my big mouth shut. Based on what I knew at the time, it sounded like our boy was getting the shaft but after Gil's comments, his account of what happened is completely plausible...Ok, I will get to shutting up now :D
