Window shopping because I'm planning to get an AX8.

Ideally I'd love a Matrix because it's light and good but being on a budget and for the time being what else is out there?

Would actually prefer to buy something used and keep the price super low like > $300

I here the Alto stuff works good for budget stuff.

Yeah that is what Jer recommended. Probably the best bet, was just seeing what else was out there.

Brand new to this stuff.

I have an EV ZLX12P. I paid like $340 from MF with a coupon. Sounds good. I'm personally not sold on FRFR. I prefer the AX8 with a power amp through my guitar cab.

I have the Alto TS112a V2 with my Kemper. Works very well for me. Fairly cheap too.

My 2 cents....All FRFRs are not created equal. Will make a big difference in your tone and "in the room" feel. If it were me, I'd spend the money on something quality and amp like like the Friedman ASM-12. If not, then I'd turn the cab sims off, go into the effects return of your amp and play through a regular cab. All IMHO of course.

I used a Friedman ASM 12 for my first few gigs with my AX8. I got sick of hauling that big, awkward bastard as it was sort of going against part of the reason I was using the AX8 in the first place. I sent it back for a Line 6 L2M which I really like but its pretty pricey. I also got one the newer Alto TS210s just to have around. The Alto sounds great and is really light. I've been using that to monitor for shows lately and am super happy. Yeah, so the Alto doesn't sound as good as the Friedman or Line 6, but its so light and so cheap, and really...I can't say that I can tell that much of a difference among everything else going on.

Good to know, thanks.

I end up using my Friedman every time I gig anymore. It's big, heavy and awkward, but it sounds quite a bit better than the others I have used. The Yamaha DXR10 is good, but it will not keep up with higher volumes as well.

I was looking into getting a Line 6 Firehawk 1500, and using it as a powered speaker cab for a modeller setup. Bypassing the onboard amp sims and such, just using the power and cab. It's got 6 speakers, set up to run in stereo or wet/dry/wet. I plan to run w/d/w, so this cab would allow that without having to lug around 3 separate cabs and cables. The stereo separation is pretty crazy, and it projects at a very wide angle. Only problem is, it's $1000 new :(.

Line 6 should start selling the cab without the pre-amp/DSP stuff! That would be killer. One portable solution for wet/dry/wet? How cool is that!?
