they need stradlin, he wrote or co wrote a lot of the best songs they have. great songwriter. I saw them play when I was really young once at the shoreline with skid row, and about 3 years before that in san fran at the warfield. Apetite came out when I was in 8th grade and I thought it was the best thing I had ever heard. I would lay in bed every night with my sony Walkman on listening to it, imagining myself playing guitar for them. childhood fantasies, awesome!

Well, I broke down and bought tickets for the Houston show. I figur d I missed seeing them the first time around. Hopefully it's a good show.

I do agree Izzy should be there but if he doesn't want to be a part of it there's not much they can do . Oh man if you were a few years older you might have been able to catch GnR when they opened for the Cult at the Warfield in '87 right after AFD came out , that was one of the best shows I've ever been to . I never saw GnR perform better the 4x I saw them afterwards over the next 5yrs and the Cult was just as awesome

No Izzy and no Adler at that show last night but they still sounded pretty damn good!

Buddy of mine flew out to Vegas for the opening show last night. Said Adler and Izzy joined them, so looks like they are doing it right. At least to start...

I think your buddy might be mistaken, if Izzy and Adler joined them onstage, the news would be EVERYWHERE, I can't find a single picture, video or mention of it.

Hmmm. I'm not seeing it either. Texting him back now on lie reconnaissance....

Appetite for Destruction came out when I was in high school and I've been a big fan of the band forever. Slash is the reason I have owned Les Pauls and even when I sell one, I always end up getting another. :)

Based on the videos and reviews of the shows, it appears that the band has finally got things together. The fact that all of them are sober, which reflects in their great playing, is a big part of that and Axl's voice sounds closer to what it used to sound like. There was a period where his voice sounded much different, and not for the better.

I really hope this tour works out and they come out with some new music (which is the rumor). I doubt I'll see the shows but only because I'm getting tickets to KISS, Brit Floyd, a Queen Tribute band, Led Zeppelin Tribute band, and MacSabbath (cover band that dresses up like McDonalds' characters). There are shows going on everywhere and I'll be lucky if I'm not homeless after all this. :)

Yep. If he loses that soft falsetto and applies more of the edge in his voice, that seems to be when he's most in key.

One other thing is how great the Chinese Democracy songs sounded. I'm not sure if Slash worked on any of those before he left GnR but sounds so good that almost seems like he was there writing the riffs. I've always liked "Better" and "Chinese Democracy". There are some great songs on that album. Kind of cool how they have been able to find some middle ground. Even the way Axl is interacting with the band, etc. seems like he has finally settled from the persona he built up all those years. In a lot of the clips I saw, he was laughing and joking, etc. I even saw a clip with Sebastian Bach doing "My Michelle" with them.

how much were they?
I think it depends on the venue. I could have gotten them for 250 each Row 9 floor seats in Phila..
