Rusty strings and dinged up "new" guitars... that's what my local GC is in my mind. Usually when I go in there it is to try out a piece of gear I'm debating buying online (yes, a dick move) or to check their used guitars out.

There is a really good mom and pop shop about a mile away from GC that I really like.

I "think" we live in the same town and if so you are right the local shop is awesome! Still sometimes GC gets in some nice used stuff for dirt cheap, the local shop also has a couple guys working during the day that are good guys. Most of the rest of the staff leaves a lot to be desired.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure we do. I still have a hard time calling the shop Professional... still used to calling it Last Chance. I bought my first Explorer from the old man at Professional when it was the old house on University.

I hear ya, I remember going to the dual house setup on University many, many times. I bought my very first nice guitar and half stack from Last Chance when it was right bye the freeway on 35th st. Didn't know there was a Baron amp floating around Des Moines, how do you like it?

Just got it in a trade here a week or two ago. It's just the little 5 watt Snott Watt, still playing around with it! I've got a really good high gain tone out of it that I'm enjoying using an OD808 to boost it. Just starting playing around with a broken-up clean tone last night that was kinda fun.
