She is apparently one of the strays fed by the crazy old cat guy across the road. Her name is Judy and she's usually in his shelter/mud room by now. He's gonna come over and try to get her.

Yeah, got any ideas ? I normally scare them off because they come back here because I have a mini bird sanctuary going on. So she isn't allowing herself to be coaxed down by me. The tree is on a hill coming up from the riverbank so even if I was delusional enough to think I could go up there and get her, there's no ladder around here that will set up on that tree, on that hill. I've had piles and piles of cats in my life and I only ever knew one that actually knew how to get down from a tree. Most come down eventually, head first and get hurt. A cat I had called Psycho knew instinctively to come down the way he went up.

Anyway, it seems to me she's scared and hanging on to a few scraggly limbs. Me psss psss psssing her isn't getting the job done.
Did you try the old dinner bowl trick so she thinks she's getting a feed to come down?

They're strange and VERY, VERY INTERESTING creatures. My fave actually.

As you know, if you scare them they act too quickly and can hurt themselves as you mentioned. So, I guess walk off and watch from a distance what happens.

I don't have any other tips but I assume she'll end up working it out...safely hopefully.

Not much help, I know, but that's all I got.

Yeah, the only guy she trusts couldn't coax her down with food. It's dark now and I just went out and she's still there. Can't really leave food on the ground out there all night or we'll have other critters and predators. All I can do is check on her again before I go to bed and check in the morning to see if she came down.

A Sylvester...super good looking cats.
My favorite cat I ever had was a shaggy haired Sylvester looking cat called Benny. He got ran over, his back half, out on the road and managed to crawl a couple hundred feet back over to his favorite spot in the driveway where I found him dead. This was mother's day 1998 when I was still with my first wife in my big house out west across from an arboretum. We had 13 cats then. Inside/outside.

I've had many cats since then. All of them inside. I've grown to inherently dislike people who let their cats outside.

I currently have two, Phoebe and Jeff. They're asleep in the living room.

I only have one and she doesn't leave the property...she's got it way too good.

People disliking cats tells you volumes about them.
