My parents are in their mid-80s and live in an assisted-living condo sort of thing. My Dad has been recovering from a health issue and hasn't seen my Mom in quite some time. My Mom has dementia pretty bad. Few days ago my Mom had what appears to be a choking incident, no pulse, CPR, but she recovered quite well. But now they think she might have broken ribs from the CPR so she is still in hospital.

So my wonderful younger sister drove ~6 hours to their town, picked up my Dad and they visited my Mom in the hospital. She sent me this tear-jerking photo of my Dad standing bedside holding my Mom's hand. She had that same 'sort of confused but I know I'm happy to see this person' smile.

My sister is a mother of four. Mother's are the best.

Best wishes of better health to your mother ! My mother is 78 and father 82. They're healthy for now but it sure is no fun seeing your own parents getting into really old age... Not much you can do to help apart from being not too far from them just in case...
