Help building a strat…. Opinions on how to configure it.

My dude, that Kahler looks like it needs gibson studs to mount the back to; that bridge might be more trouble than it's worth.

If you asked me - which you didn't - I'd check to see if those vintage trem holes were on measure, which it doesn't look like they are. Correct the holes, drop a vintage trem in, do strat things. Otherwise, not only are you routing for a Kahler, but you also have the vintage route taking out more body wood.

FWIW, I've always liked Kahlers as well as Floyds. Just different means to the same end. I think the Floyd's locking nut is better than the Kahler string lock, though.

But, as was already pointed out, that Kahler is a stud-mount, meaning it was designed to install on top of the studs for a TOM and stoptail per most Gibsons. That's also the equivalent of the Kahler Flyer, which was their cheaper bridge, the main difference being the saddles, which are directly interchangable.

You can buy new base plates, new saddles, a new cam, all the replacement parts. They recently moved shops and weren't taking orders for a few weeks, but seem to be back up now. All USA made AFAIK.
