As a younger guy back in the 80s I was all about snazzy color superstrats Ie Ibanez crayola colored guitars…. In the past couple years my taste is moving toward the LP type. The other day, I picked up a 2021 built Heritage H150 in a trade from CL since I don’t use my 2012 Mesa DR multi watt anymore I figured wtf. Played 2 hours when I got home and just amazed at how different and GOOD the tone is in comparison to a recent Ibanez that I also acquired as well as my JEM. Not that the superstrats are bad to me, just different, that maybe I never let myself entertain them. I do need the Strat type guitars for certain stuff we do at shows but it’s hard to let go of the big wood block! Maybe I’m gracefully aging like a good bourbon. I will say that since COViD has been around; 3 years now, my ability to sit down and listen to tone has improved significantly. Instead of just playing, tone is now my number 1 goal. 1 note can feel as good as 64.

A Les Paul fell into my lap about 8 years ago, I haven't played much of anything else since.

Yeah. Not even sure how mine came to me but yes these things fall into my lap. I will say 24 frets are occasionally important for some of my sets (80s hair). Not sure I would ever use a tremolo bar again but more frets are better.

That is a beautiful guitar. I love Heritage guitars so much.

As I get older the fretboard gymnatics seem to be taking a back seat and have been concentrating more on the less notes are better principle. But I have always wanted to try one of those ESP LP copies. Could they be the best of both worlds?

If you don't care about a trem, look for a used Les Paul Standard DC. Some of those had 24 frets

I do have a PRS custom anniversary edition which I actually love more and more over time. It does everything and I can drop the E very quickly which is quite nice.

What string gauge are you guys using on your LP types? I’m typically 10-46 And 9-42 on strats. No rhyme to it

Always wanted to try one!
I remember playing a red one when they first came out, and I loved it. This guy at the store was trying to talk me out of it because he said the "sweet spot" of the neck tone is messed up because of the 24 frets. I thought it sounded and played absolutely amazing. I have seen a couple since then and never really had the cash at the moment to grab one but I love the way they play every time...but it's on my list.
