Had 2 of them and loved them.
I will get another one some day.
Excellent sounding preamp

+1, though I only owned 1

I've owned 2 access preamps, sound modules A+B, and the VS 250 power amp.

1. it all sounds pretty good.

2. find someone who knows how to work on it. HK doesn't support the access any more at all

Yeah those have KILLER tones, real warm and tubey.

H@K Really know how to voice Preamps- largely due to Thomas Blug- great player and one of their designers .

Even the H@K Tubeman ( one tube - Access has 2 ) is a cool little device .

I don't know Blug but Emailed him and asked for a 100% Pure Tube combination of the Access ( streamlined, similar ) combined with the simplicity of the Tubeman,

He said he was thinking along the same lines and they will have something coming the I'd really like.

That was about 8 months ago.

These guys could put out a Preamp that would be one of the best ever for Clean to Rock to Metal- IF they want to - I just hope it's $1000. not 2K or 3K if they do.

So Gene, which power amp did you prefer with it?

2150

actually, it sounds great with pretty much anything. The fx return of my Egnater Seminar head is about as good as it gets too, if I want a mono 50 watt power section.

FWIW, I owned the HK VS250 power amp. Maybe mine had a problem, but it sounded kind of small. :aww: :aww:

Thats what I have heard about the V250....

I was thinking maybe a Mesa 2:50 or 2:90, possibly a VHT 2-50-2..... hell I don't know, I'll be running it into the ass end of the Makoplex for a while, but figured you'd be the one to ask. :D

BTW, the Mesa 2:fifty sounded weak too, IMO. very small trannies, VERY lightweight, it actually sounded "scooped". I DEFINITELY would not buy it again. also, the mesa 2:fifty is not the same as the mesa 50/50.

my Marshall 9100 buried it. and then peed on the grave.
